I think I've finaly finished my fake radiosity lighting for inside of death island. Note that the light fixtures models aren't present yet, but the lights that go with them are.
Suggestions (mostly on the lighting)???

No, I'm using the mental ray renderer actually, plus a lot of mr area lights with some mental ray light shaders (those are in the last rollout option thing in mr area light dialog). And i turn on GI, not to fake radiosity, but to make the lights brightness more realistic, since when you use light shaders, there is no power option, just color; The GI doesn't affect an actual radiosity effect because all my lights have cuttoff points, aka attenuation (option in the light shader). The fake radiosity effect just comes from placing lights in good places.
Only point of doing all this was to save time, crap load of time because Ill making a SHORT movie on DI once i get all the parts together.

Nice scene Chief cow BTW. The spartan needs a little work (Mostly pose, I can hardly see him), but the environment is great!

for detail maps, you can either use a mix or an rgbmultiply. not sure if that has a color change or not, but if it does use photoshop to overlay the alpha on the color change where its not black and use that as your specular map. if it doesnt, use the alpha map for specular. when using detail maps, make sure you tile them according to the size of the image.
