go grab G-Max from the same company, discreet. It is free, almost exactly the same, and there is now exporters for it (go to the gearbox forums and type in search: Chimp 1.3) Baka made it and xizzy made the grabber for it... THEY ARE BOTH GODS!!

But if you already have GMAx, then no, there is no other programs.

actually you can use others, you will still need gmax of max to export though. the map you see in my collisions tutorial was purely modeled in maya, nothing else. and then i exported and imported to my right scale and walla, you have a level. i prefer maya for terraining and max for archetecture.
