ok, so i modded halo pc and i went to play my mods online with my friend and he said that he couldnt see my skins or use my weapon mods, all he saw was the normal game.
so i was wondering if there was some special way to set up a mod server so that everyone who joined got to use the mods of the host.
In order for people to see your skins they have to have the same bitmap.map file your using. Same goes for almost any mod really done correctly without meta swaps.
If you move things, add things, new skins only your going to be able to see them cause there on your maps not his.
Life is not how you survive the storm, but how you dance in the rain

"whats the point of modding"? did he just say that?
.....i know maybe you don't see the point, but i have an undefined level of hatred for you now. i'll keep it to myself.
anyway, AI IN MULTIPLAYER. the big number one. then, all the gameplay possibilities. add vehicles and scenery, import pelicans or autoturrets or whatever. then some features allow you to walk on walls, immune to falling damadge, speed changes, swapping projectiles, etc. all in HMT.
swapping projectiles means you can have a banshee shooting fuel rods as its primary weapon, or a shotgun shooting out plasma grenades, or a sniper-machine gun-mounted turret on a warthog.
this is all my uncreative mind can think of thats easily done at the moment, so let's get on to an explanation.
you will see your own skins. not others. you will see your own scenery, but collide with the host's scenery. when you see a shee, and it's really a tank in the hosts' computer, it will not fly, but look like a shee. lets say you have a needler. the host has the battle base mod. it will look like you're shooting needles, but it will actually be homing rockets.
there are so many possibilities with modding. graphical mods do not have an effect, but if you really want it to look "pretty", send your maps to your friends, it's pretty logical why it doesn't show up.
yeah i'm not too great with modding, but swapping is the easiest to do, apart from changing variables. and the most i know what to do is take a biped or vehicle from the campaign and PMIng it...
also, i just remembered another thing! exception guns. boot people you don't like.
ever see the cool mods on youtube? portal gun, ocarina of time mod, grunt wars, so much cool stuff.
bottom line: never, ever say "whats the point of modding?". there is always a point, no matter what game.
Yeah I made it, but lets not discuss it anymore on here, last time this got discussed world war 3 broke out in the Rant topic. check around page 333 for everything. It's starts somewhere around there and goes on for a page or 2
