Actually he does, he reflects light and emits it via heat waves in form of infrared light.

It wasn't a bird, believe me. The sound it made was not bird-like and it moved very fast. I say Baby Flying squid, or UFO.

It's a really strange field too, it's surrounded by woods, and has a weird river running through it. There are also two abandoned farm houses.
