To start us off, I'd like to hear what people have to say about, The Great Gatsby.

I was wondering if anyone has read either Survivor or Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. I ordered them as gifts for my brother who is a huge Fight Club fan, but I'm going to have a hard time not reading them before Christmas.

Oh god... I'm reading that for english right now.. I really don't like it. I mean, I love books, but seriously, it gets uber boring sometimes.

My favorite books are Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and I Am Legend.

I wanted to try and get a copy of I Am Legend. It's kind of a vampire story isn't it? My favorite two vampire books would have to be The Vampire Lestat and Interview With A Vampire.

My English teacher told our class that the last page is considered the best last page in American literature.

Apparently, it's got a lot of meaning and "deepness." It's sort of interesting.

It is. Pretty much all I read are vampire books to be honest. It's not cause I'm goth and cause they are 'dark'. I just find them extremely intriguing. I have yet to read Interview With A Vampire and all the Anne Rice books. I have all of them, but I haven't gotten to them yet.

But I Am Legend is definitely worth the investment. I read it in a day cause I couldn't put it down.

It wasn't that great.

I am guessing its one of those books you won't appreciate till' your older.

then YES. That was a great book.

I thought the last Harry Potter book had some really nice writing in it as well. Especially the ending, I was hooked.

It is an awesome book

I just finished reading it yesterday. I've been wanting to read some peoples reactions to some events in the book and it seems you have read my mind Ombre :O

I'm really bad at starting these sort of conversations >_> I was more hoping I would jump into one.
I could only feel anger (towards Ruth >:( ) and sorrow, as Neville just let himself die after three years of hard research and his struggle to live. I did like the way that Neville turned out after three years, though. A hard, smart man, someone almost used to living with a vampire infested world. I had gotten alot of "what-if" thoughts after reading it. Like - What if Neville hadn't got shot in the chest, would he have escaped with Ruth? What if he didn't easily fall into Ruths lies? What if he had never met Ruth? What if the dog didn't die D:?
Also, could someone tell me more about the water, and why the vampires were supposedly afraid of it? (were they?) What was Neville trying to do when he put the hose in the ground, and Cortman started jumping on it?
Did Neville ever explain why the Vampires disliked the mirrors?
And what was with some of the vampires that slept in the soil?

Oh, and in b4 "you're posting small to look cool"

Has Matthew Reilly created a ripple in the American book industry? He claims to be an international best seller including America... but really, I don't know how to say it any other way:

Seriously...I can't get over how much I love them. Area 7 is my favourite. I've read that one over 8 times and it hasn't been out for all too long.

Another favourite book of mine is prey.

Im interested in this thread, because I wanna see what youg yus like and I'll take the names into account and hopefully borrow/purchace them.

The Great Gatsby was an awesome book. Probably the best english book i've had to read, ever.

I'm going to have to read One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Next next semester for my Contemporary Lit class, based on what people said that were in the class this semester, it's a really good book, and actually interesting. I've heard of the book (in reality, who hasn't, it's a hell of a well known book, but who has read it?), but anyone else read it?

EDIT: Yeah I've read the Ender's Series, probably one of the best series' that I've read.

As for Harry Potter, seeing how I didn't like the main character at all, I found it difficult for me to really LOVE the series. Draco Malfoy was the best character of all time (especially in the movies) and he had to go "good" in the end... TOTALLY RUINED IT ROWLING. >:O

The vampire wasn't afraid of the water, he was trying to cut off his water supply :p Cortman was so freakin annoying, lol.

I'm about 130 pages into Contact Harvest. I think it's a really good book so far, I can't wait to finish it up.
