go to a level like.. umm... bloodgulch..lol

look in the bitmaps for "levels/bloodgulch/bloodgulch" or soemthing like that. to the right should be anywhere between 10-20 different bitmaps. thoes are your lightmaps. i know for sure that the library SP map has almost 500 i think? like 80 for each bsp. want to know how i know? go play that campaign level now that you have the redux bitmaps.

when you enter it and say.. WTF?

yes, thats what editing lightmaps will do...

Ok I have a question. You know how you have to replace the old maps with your modded ones. I am in the FUN~clan and we have our own modded maps for our servers. New clan 1 year going strong I recommend all of you to go and check out our servers (if you like mods). Basically I am saying is there a way to have your shader enhanced multiplayer maps and still use your clan modded maps. Or no.

The only way that I know it can be done is by copying and pasting the files to the map folder everytime you want to use your own maps.

the way the new redux is being built is that having these modded maps will be the same as having a stock map when joining lobby servers.

now lemme explain that..

the items we have chosen to PMI and selecting to rebuild in these maps make them appear stock to a sever client. you will be able to join any server that hasn't been rebuilt itself.

now..

all the visual tweeks in redux dealing with lighting, the skys, skins, shaders, is all controlled client side. if you take a server map and edit the sky tag in hmt to make the level dark it will have no effect cause thoes attributes are controlled by the client side map. open a server map of bloodgulch in hmt. not the map in your halo MAPS file but the actual bloodgulch.map in your servers directory by your provider.

go to something as simple as the sky branch. make all the values for anything in the r,g,b setting like this..

r = 0
g= 0
b = 5

anything with r,g,b. now save. upload the map and restart the server. by logic the sky settings dealing with atmospheric fog should be blue now. guess what? it wont. why? server does not denote the colors for that. it will still look stock.

i hope i explained more then what you were looking for in this. for thoes who dont know what server/client side means its simply this..

server side:
the maps at the server location for the dedicated server. these are usually accessible via FTP or adminCP with a server provider like killerpings, clanservers and so forth.

client side:
the maps in your halo maps directory when you installed halo.

also.. i typed this while watching the movie se7en so there is alot of rambling and probably a ton of grammar mistakes.

well, if his maps are rebuilt but joiner friendly so anyone can join not needing the actual modded map then a redux user should be able to join without a issue. is there i server ip i can go and try to join and well see?

but as i said before the main bulk of redux is based in lighting cues and bitmaps. thoes cant be controlled by the server and the user must have them. same with the maps themselves with the PMI work.. only the people with the maps in there maps directory will see the things involved in redux.

well since i said this in the chillout problem thread it seems icefields, and sidewinder can not be played lobby either after being rebuilt. so i went back in icefields from the redux version and just drove around looking for ideas and such. opened PS, hmt and sparkedit and came up with this..

any better?

I don't like the wall's; they're too glossy.
Also, fix threshold.

Pretty slick, lol it looks like a glossy Aurora Borealis on the cliffs. What's wrong with the thresh hold?

yeah, yeah, yeah.. the threshold.. i know.. i have all new planets but im not giving them away yet.. lol

i love giving people beta pics.. just funny to see what they think. the gloss is too shiny i know but its fun to play around in. the main reason i posted the pics was for the general feel of the map being set during like a midnight hour or something.

Hey sorry I took so long to answer. But yea I see what you are saying. And yes the mods are user firendly so even if you don't have the maps you can still use the mods in the server. But you wont be able to see them. Say for example the rocket launcher gets 4 shots before you reload. On the screen without the modded map it will say you need to reload after 2 but in reality you don't it just gets really confusing. Also all the special ports I won't be able to see. And I don't want to memorized them all. BTW Here is our website: http://www.funclan.org Go to the download section and donwload one if you want to see how they work. You need to register first in order to download them. Anyone who wants to check out our mods just come in and join we have 10 servers now. Hope you have FUN. And those pics on Ice fields looks really good. But I think the ice is still to smooth.

http://forums.halomods.com/viewtopic.php?t=69513

thoes are modded server side maps pepness did for lobby severs and there 100% joiner friendly. you want to truely make your servers unique then use thoes.

man, its getting close to me about giving up on this in a way. im finding out alot of the ideas i want to do i simply cant cause of the conflicts of maps not being friendly for open lobby use. sure i could just release the map for home game fun, but if you do that then you should just go all out and make it a CE map period.

i dunno...

bevercreek was my next target and alas i found out the hard way it cant be rebuilt at all and used for lobby. this set me back 2 hours cause of my own ignorance of not checking it as soon as i rebuilt it. i went with the original i had but there is no new master chief like there wont be on SW, Chill, and IF. i found a way to have both master chiefs for use while having two different sets of armor skins for both.

ugh.. just a pain in the ass sometimes wondering if all this is even worth it. anyways.. heres some pics of the new beaver creek. dont mind the rock/boulders cause nessa is reskinning them to match the ground were using later.

bcnipod, add me back to xfire if you want. im over it and such. no harm no foul. i dont hold grudges.
