help with modelling

i tried making a model using Misfit Model 3D. i made what i wanted and went to import it (this was a modified plasma pistol) but when i tried to overwrite it, it kept saying An unhandled exception has occured in your application.

are there any ways to stop this happening?

when you save in misfit, uncheck 'save normals'
