Conversion mappack

Hey guys,

i 'built' newmombassa_earthcity_4 onto headlong. Works fine. with burial mounds, and other maps i tried, there were errors. Not sure y. with headlong, my xbox doesnt freeze where the campaign would load (where it says 'loading' in the top left of screen). Not sure why. The only problem I'm having now, which Pokecancer said hes working on, is the objectives. I cant use flags or bombs etc. I cant pick them up. Not sure y. I'm trying to figure a reason for picking a certain base (multiplayer) map, since we all know how to add things. As far as i can tell, the only thing in the rebuilt map dicticted by the base map (please correct me if you have found different) is the netgame equipement.

I seem to have good luck doing these builds, if you want me to try one here for u, let me know. I do have a real good pc, I can do a build in less than 30 minutes. Then i can send u a patch.

FYI; my pc is P4 duo 2.8 w/4 gigs of ram (my sh*t pwns urs :) )

im using entity 1.3, HrCore 2nd version and H2Guerilla

Can anyone give me a hand skinning a campaign map? I just need a couple hours help, like in a room on xbc.

my pc=AMD Athlon FX2 w/ 2 gigs of ram -AND transfers base map's objectives, as well as netgame equipment and player spawns, during rebuild- All 100% usable.(pwnt! :D )

I just rebuilt Old Mombasa into Containment, ALL THREE BSPs 0_0, and it STILL only took me 20 mins. for the complete rebuild.
130 MB map FTW!(pwnt again! :lol: )

lol nice one yes sorry i forgot objectives, but i dont count players spawns b/c u have reset them with entity, but i guess they are dictated by the base map wow i got triple pwned ouch ouch ouch


now imma pwn u T Beezie.....you never stated a reason for choosing any particular base map. Thats kinda a pwn, isnt it? i mean really when u think about it......meh, ferget it

Well, the reason I chose Containment, was because that map has an abundance of pre-compiled un-used scripts, that I can use for teh uber1337h4x. There are other MP maps w/ "pre-loaded" scripts in them, such as, Zanzibar, Waterworks, Turf, and a couple of others I think. But, why else did I use Containment? Because, it also has a high number of usable [itmc]s, so I didn't have to bother with cloning a bunch more for added weapon placement. ;)

when my newmombassa map failed, it failed with waterworks, zanzi, terminal, and burial mounds. this was using both the old and new H2core. im hoping to make objectives work, b/c im trying to make my map primarly 1 flag ctf map (like headlong) evrything works, except the objectives. Im not really putting anymore work into this until I hear from Pokecancer, in case he cant fix it. In the meantime, I will try containment.

Any pro-skinners out there willing to give me some help?

ok so i used containment as my base map. now i can pick up flags and such. i have the flag respawn set @ 60 secs, but when i drop the flag, they respawn automatically. also, if im not holding the flag, its is continually being 'returned' meaning it constantly has 4 lines of text in my upper left hud that says 'flag returned'. Are u getting this prob too, T Beezie? just wondering. all that said, im now going to try the old build of H2Core. so i should have new results in an hour.

so what does getting the object spawns to show up in game depend on? is it the MP base map?
T breezie said that he has gotten perfect rebuilds, i wonder wut the differance is between my rebuilds(no objects) and his.

Also, Eternal, I got all game types working perfectly with beavercreek as a base map.

I'm pretty sure it has somthing to do with your flag capture and flag respawn points. Maybe they're not lined up exactly perfect, I think that could cause it, mb not. I havn't gotten to that point in my mod yet, but, with previous [mach] mods that I have done, I had the same problem. If I'm not mistaken, I think it may be a problem with the "special spawns", which I know nothing about. >_<

Ok so i did some testing on a stock beaver creek map. I took all objectives and just moved them up with entity. i can pick up flag, the flag isnt constantly returning, i can score the flag etc. SO i think that during the rebuild something is corrupting or not gettting trransfered. just a guess. dont flame me.

anyone else got any ideas?


Any pro-skinners wanna help me? i just need some direction....ive skinned b4, but this one is really giving me troubles.....

I'm pretty sure that the special spawns just tell where to spawn the players of the red team and blue..... so like the offence doesn't spawn at the defence base and vise versa. but all my game types work perfectly before I evern touched the special spawns, so i know they don't effect if the objectives respawn right away

Sorry guys I'm pulling out of the mappack. I almost had my mod ready for realease, didn't have a backup and screwed it up. Sorry guys.

EDIT: I'll do a conversion of Single player shared :D

well hindsight is always 20/20. but the number one rule i have when modding; do one thing, test, and if it works, make a copy, then do another mod lallalalala if it dont work, u always have that copy u made after each step

Why not start over. The mappack won't be released for a while. Maybe a month or so depending on how long it'll take to gather 45+ maps together.

that way you still have a master backup to get a copy from. Making a master backup of your map after you make a successful rebuild should be your first priority. Then complete the mod. And make copies of your map as you go like eternal said but still keep that master backup unchanged for just in case shit happends.

But I hope people will actually try to keep their map size down. There are so many unnessecary tags that can be removed before rebuilding, like cinematics and SP dialog.

In the upper left hand corner is Hotel Zanzibar and in the lower left is the broken bridge piece where the Pelican picks up the Sargent right after you fight the hunters that bust through the courtyard doors. The Hotel is planned as a base and the Pelican site may be a base but due to the amount of area I would have to create walls for (It would look crappy and fake), it may be moved a little closer into the city.

ok... i've gotten my space station map working, everyting, exept it freezes when I shoot a certian spot with a rocket. it isn't the bloc, scen, or any object type. It just freezes when I shoot one of the bent doors. actually it is the right side of this picture.

the rocket works in other places though. every thing works every where exept right there in that picture, the left corner of that blown open door
