[Model] Base Concept

Post by RaVNzCRoFT »

This is a quick concept that I modeled for a base. I'd really like to put this in a Halo CE map, but I have no idea how to do that. I'm going to try to gather a team up to make a map and have this base encorporated into it. If you're interested in helping make this map, please let me know.

Nice concept, but rather boxy and bland at the moment. I like the idea with the central structure and ramps, though.

That's really good. I plan for my map to be done at about November sometime. May I help with the integration of the base?

I could also help with UVing.

Dude. No. Do you even know who Katarn and Snaf are? They are some of the few 1337est modelers that have ever set foot in CE. =D

I've been thinking about getting into creating a map for ce or starting to model more again period. So I'd definitely be interested in helping with this map :)

It may look plain, but ingame is all that really counts, and I think it looks great for online CTF, its got an ultimate defence :)

Do the ramps connect to the upper reaches of the base? (The area where you can look out the top windows.)

No, the ramps just stop in the air. However, I could attach them to the roof very easily if I decided to do that.

hmm... well let's see. the floor is a seperate piece from the rest of the building = no. It should be one piece, as you can see, the fact that it is not one piece means that there are wasted polies surrounding the plane. The same goes for the pillar and the ramps. You should try and make your pieces, if not initially, but finally, in one piece. I doubt that the incline idea would work unless you applied the ladder shader to the inclines as well. They would work perfect with grav lifts, however the obvious limitations of the halo netcode and the current ways of making grav lifts means that those are out of the question. The general idea of the base is nice, however, it doesn't fit halo's design style. Is it meant to be of human or forerunner design? For now I'll assume, judging by the pillar that it is forerunner. If so, my point stands. If you need any help whatsoever, I'd be glad to work with you on this.

Sorry for the unconstructive post above.

Thanks for the updated post. I agree that it looks a bit inhumane right now, but I think that's just because of the plane colors. They're kind of purple and pink, and it makes it look like a Covenant structure. But I was planning on putting some metal skins on the base.

I hate how 3ds puts random colors on the models... Though it's not a problem for me, using maya and all

lololol Reaper spotted the word 'admin' and turned his attitude RIGHT around :P

Never mind his unconstructive posts... he's used to the standard GBX procedure of doing that. I blame noobs.

But yeah, he's pretty much right. Make it all one piece of geometry, work on the shape, and work on the design a bit to align it with either Forerunner, human, or Covenant styles.

Doesn't mean I couldn't ban your dumb ass. :P

And I could easily put in a plane for the floor and attach all the planes to one piece of geometry.
