Alternative cooling options

Post by Cuda »

Now that summer is here, and the hot weather is setting in, does anyone know of any good PC cooling alternatives?

My brother made the ghetto-est one I've ever seen. Well technically he made his during the winter. But his computer was still always overheating. So he took a cardboard tube, attached it from his window to the inside of his tower, and the computer went down more than 20 degrees. Try that. :P

I just pull off the side of my tower and stick a desk fan in there =P
It's also important that every couple of weeks that you go in and vaccum out any dust. This really helps keep your computer cool.

yeah, you could get a big box fan and put that where the side panel usually goes. just turn off or pull out the fans that are already in the pc, wouldn't want the air coming from the big fan overpowering (and shorting) the little fans.

or maybe you should look into water cooling. but if you go with a liquid-cooled solution, be VERY VERY VERY careful, and know that you'll need to invest a nice bit of time and money in it. although it works like a dream :D
