lol, thus the filename "ship_test". It was a very old test that has been remedied since then. Most of the videos have dozens of imperfections that I'm constantly working on. Animation is much different than still image rendering in the fact that there are so many more variables that affect animation. For instance, I love specular bloom, but it is totally crappy in an animation. You can see this in the movie dated 1-23-06. Thank you for the constructive criticism though. People like yourself will ultimately help this project become great. I hope to achieve the quality of my sig, but in animation.

yeah, that scene was what this project started as, and now is much larger and greater. I wasn't even close to done with that scene, so I began this one instead. That one had no storyline or reason for being there and was more of a test of whether or not I believed animating a fight would be realistic. I now know how tedious and frusterating it is to animate even the smallest things and decided to give the fight purpose. Now, the MC will jump from the forunner ship, be intercepted by a pelican which is being chased by 3 phantoms, be dropped off from the fast moving pelican and slam down onto the huill of the ship. Then, as he rises to his feet, you see 3 elites also slam down onto the hull (not all at once). They immediatly begin fighting and the chief shows what it really means to be a spartan.

I want the length to be around 2-3 songs so at least 6 or 7 minutes, max 10. Backburner is the tool that comes with 3ds-max that allows you to use other computers as "slave" renderers. Having many computers rendering one scene speeds up the render time many times over. I have 5 P4s on my render "farm" which are just computers that I've bought over the years (Makes me sound old doesn't it) ( <- I'm only 19 though). The thing about animations over backburner, is that you cannot submit a "movie" file to be rendered over multiple computers. You can however make the output of each frame a targa (.tga) image which you can then use in 3ds-max's ram player to load as a video and then encode it however you wish.
