DUDE!!!!!!! halo impulse is up, it's just you know, umm....... only forums right now, I really was looking forward to this project, but I guess pipe dreams and deserted island will have to hold me over lol.Stefander wrote:Try looking in this section, for Weekly Updates. The next update we will give is when HaloImpulse.com goes live, the level will be just about completely textured by then. We don't want to give out unfinished stuff...Crimson4245 wrote:yeah, but where? halomods search or something like google?

still with combined teams you would have more done plus you have quite a few membersso it shouldent take forever but i must say u probably have more done that mombasa lol , mombasa classic it took them like a gazillion years to get that done and theres not really anything special about it, there "all custom bitmaps" seem extremely plain if u ask me

X3RO....I'm not trying to dis you, but c'mon...do you actually know what kind of work goes into a map like New Mombasa or Zanzibar?
If you've done any 3d modelling and texturing you should realize the scope of the project. If you think these maps take a long time, you'd be interested to know how long Bungie takes to create a level. It's not just about slapping a bunch of models and bitmaps together...it's about balance personal taste. I'll bet if you fing out how long it took to model and texture Hang 'em High, you'd appreciate how quick New Mombassa came together, and how Zanzibar is coming along. This is a slow process...good levels take time and patience to make sure they are perfect, not glitchy and haphazard. Also, I thought the textures were pretty nice...maybe you should upgrade your video card.

I never talk about WhenHootersFly2, and I never say I have it, but this is an exception: I do have that map, I do not play it online, and I most cirtanly do not give it to other people, but I sorta hang out sometimes in a LAN server myself shooting those awesome rockets. Heres what I think:
The battle rifle is near perfect, add a sound, how hard can that really be? If you want to get fancy and change a few more things then that takes about 10 min... (I may be totally wrong, but it seems done to me!) The needler, done... The rocket... done.... The Ghost.... Done... The destructable screnery, with a little work.... done... now the only thing that sucks is the map itself. But wha-la! Theres New Mombasa Classic!! I am sure the creator of Oblivion would be totally happy to give you his Gauss warthog for use of that map, and I saw a video with a nearly completed SMG! As far as the Nighttime thing, I saw a video with that nearly done too. A beamsword, I have seen a few very nice ones. And Pipedream managed to have a lunge, take that hilarious yet goofy scream out and your done! New Mombasa is completed, there is the material out there, it just has to be united. If you want to go the whole nine yards and do duel wielding and all that stuff, whatever...New Mombasa the map itself would be one hundred times sooner, and just as fun. Sorry for the long post, BUT YOU GUYS ARE DONE!!! A little work with WhenHootersFly2, and New Mombasa Classic, and a few other mappers, we have offically the best map ever made for HaloCE. Period.

Maps can be made alot faster, westwood studios for example, check their singly player maps, they made like the whole of their single player maps in a month, and they rule, some can take a long time. But this map team are not in a studio i realise, i would think that any team could make a whole map within 2 months, more then that is stupid...

How long has it been since they started? and yeah that is stupid. but, if it takes that long then it either means that it is going to be like the bast map EVER, or, the mapper/team just plain SUCKS (im not relating to the NM team AT ALL
oh, and, you know since 2MARROW is october 1st, you think that the next update for zanzibar just might be THE REAL THING!?! or at least a release date?

here is word from me, a former member of the teams.Crimson4245 wrote:How long has it been since they started? and yeah that is stupid. but, if it takes that long then it either means that it is going to be like the bast map EVER, or, the mapper/team just plain SUCKS
team zanzibar got ALOT done much faster than mombasa team, but eventually both teams slowed work to only one or two members from each side doing lots of stuff, like jamesD was the guy doing most for zanzibar side when i was still on the team.
as far as modelling goes, that was finished a long time back, it just gets tweaked.
basically now all they will be doing is tweaking,
anyways,
i personally think you will all be slightly dissapointed with zanz, i dont know about mombasa becasue i was never close to that side of the team.
zanzibar is alot better than most of the maps i see released these days here, but its not what you are all expecting,
well it might be, but i pretty much know that after a day of "WOW" wares off you will know if you do or not.
i think IF these maps are very good, it will save haloce, if they are very bad, they will kill haloce.
