Modding is legal in Australia as long as it doesn't infringe things like copyright or do anything illegal...
Like I'd be able to mod my box to be able to put XBMC on it to watch home videos easier...But thats about it...

However I think the laws for it are changing...

Also, Modding your Xbox is not illegal, it's putting illegal stuff on it that is illegal, and then use it as your profit.

And I'm pretty sure modding the Xbox is legal here, unless you break copyright laws by distributing illicit copies of games etc, or make profit from modding xboxes, which makes sense really. Why put a law into effect that you cannot enforce? Silly American law, for starters the console belongs to you, so you can open and do what you want to do with it, it's yours. And secondly, how would they enforce a law about reverse engineering your xbox? Send the xbox police to everyones house to check the little seals at the bottom? lol/no.

I agree with Hawaiian's step dad... If xbox7887 was thinking he was going to be paid, he should have figured this out beforehand. There should have been some sort of contract. MLG might have thought he was just doing it out of charity. Did xbox7887 even mention something about rights and permissions to MLG? If no, then why should they worry? To them that means they basically own the program. These are things you need to work out beforehand.

Almost everyone here raises good points, but I also agree with what Xbox said, and that is the fact that his trainer wasn't made with the XDK or anything illegal, so if he wanted to, he could probably do something about it, in a legal sense. Not that it would be worth it.

Just to clear things up. The modifying of your xbox isn't the illegal part. It's the software and files used to do this with. Distributing of those files is the illegal part. I'm 99% positive it's not the actual modifying of your xbox though. Just recieving the pieces to do so is.

And the pieces to do so are required in modifying it, no? Thus making it illegal. Last time I checked, modchips weren't even legal to sell...

It's illegal to sell modchips here, but it's not illegal to own them.

It's like Alcohol, you have to be 18 to purchase it here, but you can drink it on Private Property if you're older than 5 I believe.

long story short, the credits were short and left out many key figures in the tv show, i am sorry for this and we greatly appreciate xbox7887's help.
