Can't get the UserMap Resigner to work.

Post by Frak »

As a test to see if i could get a map to resign i extracted a map from my hard drive. Resigned it and then injected it back into my hard drive. It didn't work.... :? When i loaded halo 3 the map was no longer in my list of forge maps.

Can you guys tell me what i did wrong in the Re signer thing. Or possibly give me a in depth tutorial on how to do this.

Here's a picture of my resign settings.

Some files have different Device IDs, I think ot is due to different file sizes. Always use 116kb files.

No. The DeviceId is specific for each storage device you use. It will never change for that device.

You did everything right, I would double check your Profile and Device Settings and try again.

Fair enough... but for some reason I have 2 device IDs. I upgraded from a 20GB HDD to a 120GB one, and migrated my data, so that could have caused it, alough I would have assumed it may have been resigned in the migration. My Box recently was sent for "repair" (aka replacement) but I kept hold of my HDD. One of those probably caused the switch.

There's only 1 device ID for every HDD. Repair has nothing to do with it.

In that case I'm guessing that it is due to the data migration. It probably resigned the map files to work on the new device, without changing the device ID.... or something like that, IDK.

It changes the device ID. The migration of content by official means will not cause the issue being described.

I'll try that as soon as i get a chance. Right now my parents are using the T.V. And btw does the name of the hard drive have to be HDD or Hard Drive. Cause it says Hard Drive on my xbox but it says HDD in the tutorial i read.

Edit--

Oh and i forgot to mention. When ever i inject a resigned usermap into my hardrive and go to run halo 3 it says "cannot read disc" once and then when i try to load halo 3 again its absolutely fine. I have no idea whats causing this.

The name is just for your reference, so you know which device you're using (For instance, if you had a memory card and a hard drive). The name you give it won't affect anything in the resigning process.

My 360 will not load Halo 3 while XSATA is connected, I have to remove it before I put in my disc. Dunno if that's your problem in this case or not.

How could you have a XSata cable connected to your hard drive while your playing halo 3?

Or do you mean something else and i just don't understand?

XSATA will allow the console to use the hard drive as long as the cable is not plugged in to the back of the XSATA connector. Usually I just leave it on at all times, but for Halo 3 I have to remove it.

The unique ID for your storage device.

Ok. So that's to make sure you don't copy files from one HD to another right? Like a protection Key?

It isn't a key or anything.
It's just used to ID your storage device...

Ugh.... I still cant get this re signer to work. I uploaded a couple of user maps and I'm wondering if someone will resign them for me and send them back to me so i can see if it works or not.

Did you rehash? You must do this first and then resign.
Senor_Grunt: Okay, so, I was playing CoD4 earlier, and about 30 minutes into playing, the screen went black, then flashed, then the 360 gave me red rings. Only, they weren't rings, they were half of the ring. Like, only two of the controller light thingies were light up red. WTF does this mean? Like seriously. My 360 still works, but it does that like once every week at the least, and it's getting annoying getting to round 16 in the zombie mode for CoD5 (so totally not bragging ), then suddenly blacking out. :[
