Need Help Skinning

Post by Andrew_b »

Ok i am making my first map. I thought i knew how to do all the 3ds stuff, but i guess i forgot. So, I need help skinning my map.
Below is a picture of the map, and what i do to skin.
Image

Ok so i select the faces.
clear smoothing groups
press m
choose multi/sub-object
click the button named Material #89 (for example)
scroll down to maps, check diffuse. and then choose a bitmap next to the word diffuse.
bitmap shows up in the ball render thing.
I click and drag the ball to the faces.
Click the blue and white box to show in perspective

The model turns all gray (even if bitmap isnt gray) and there are no bitmaps.

please tell me what im doing wrong.

Edit: dont comment about my model, it is fixed (right room, look at floor, no face.)

hey who thinks my first map is an above average one???

"actually my map is in game...and i am going to release it.

See about how i mod. I have made many mods, such as Paintball Night (might have seen) And Target Practice. I know how to mod. Now i just made my own map. I am releasing this because i feel this is an above average first map.

here is a picture of what it looks like with just lights finished.

The model might not be great but i can make up for it. (lightmaps were run with this "1 0.9" going to run better ones near end). I am not new to Halo modding at all."
