Problem in 3ds Max.

In 3ds Max when I go from Unwrap UVW Map to Editable Mesh it gives me an error. It says :

A modfiier exists in the stack that depends on topology. Changing parameters may have undesirable effects. The dependent modifier is: Unwrap UVW Map.

I am following the HEK tutorial on this site, http://www.halomods.com/index.php?topic=Tutorials

How do i fix this. i know I read how to fix this once before, but that was before i started mapping.

well, you applied something that is still active.

i'd try to save it as a .3ds, and then try to export it
