I have my Dlink modem attached to my pc via the USB, as usual and have connected my xbox via crossover cable to the back of the modem (my dlink only has a single usb and a single ethernet port)
I am getting a 'no link' signal on my xbox
I have also tried setting my pc to a static ip as suggested in Ian's guide which is:
ip: 192.168.0.2
subnet: 255.255.255.0
gateway: leave blank
dns: leave blank
if i do this i still get no connection to xbox and lose internet access on my pc.
What else can a poor boy do?? I feel like i've tried everything and still no luck.
Please also bare in mind that i can get a connection to my PC+xbox which will allow me to ftp and be on the internet on my pc at the same time, BUT i cannot get rss feeds, weather or xlink kai through xbmc
I believe that if i can get my xbox/internet connection complet, then it will also open up my connection to its fullest potential (see old post below for details of lag).
Failing this i'm going to try and get my hands on a 2nd network card, as i just cant find any other possible solution

I'm hoping that someone from here can please help me with my problem(s).
Before i start, i must state that i have limited net access and cant get onto most net sites (from work you see). So can any help be physically inserted rather than links given, thank you very much in advance.
Well my problem is this.
I've got a working network connection between my xbox and pc. i can ftp fine, but i have never been able to get the rss feeds, weather + kai in xbmc to work..... thats no biggie though (if someone can list a step by step detailed guide to get this working that would be a great bonus .
I can connect to kai through my pc no problems, all the stats show up fine and i can play halo 2 on it.
The biggest problem seems to be a lag issue, if i host on kai i can sometimes have 1 or 2 other players with me fine, but after that they complain of lag. If i join someone elses arena, often my connection gives them lag (even when my ping on their end is something like 60). I run only kai and turn all other app's off. no firewall or antivirus is running. i can play (with lag) and ftp with the same connection (eg. i dont mess around with the ip settings etc..).
I run my xbox straight into my pc's network card, and my dsl connection runs into my pc via usb.
I cant find my problem in any sites forum or faq - i've tried reconfiguring ip's gatewatys etc... but nothing seems to fix it. Perhaps getting a connection where all my rss feeds etc.. work will help with this kai lag issue?? Perhaps my connection isn't 100% even though it says it is?
