You could shrink the bounding box of the model and then change the SID of the seat to something that MC and Elites can't use.
But as to the Dep thing. The turret dependancy will be in the vehc tag becasue that is where the difference between the Gauss and Chain hogs are.
Sorry, that is correct exactly. The hlmt contains a dependancy to the turret, as part of the appropriate variation. Use entity to remove those dependencies (set to null) and the turrets will disappear. I think.

Holy crap, it's really simple. Just open up your map in DotHalo, go down to the vehi [vehicle] tag, then once there, scroll down and click on either objects\vehicles\warthog\turrets\chaingun\chaingun or objects\vehicles\warthog\turrets\gauss\gauss. Then on the right, go to the dependencies and null out the top one (which should say either hlmt -objects\vehicles\warthog\turrets\chaingun\chaingun or
hlmt - objects\vehicles\warthog\turrets\gauss\gauss
Vuala, no turret!
hlmt - objects\vehicles\warthog\turrets\gauss\gauss

or you can do it the right way and null the dependenices for chain/guass vehi's in the hlmt
or you could do it even more proper and change the varation in the vehc to troop

not vehicle, vehc as in the tag vehicle collection

You open up the vehc tag, find the hog and change it from warthog, or warthog_guass to warthog_troop.
Or, go into the warthog's hlmt and click variation, then the last reflexive (will probably say unknown) then turret, dependencies and null what you find there.
OR go into the vehi tag for the turret (either chaingun, or guass) and null the hlmt or swap it to something like the flag base or something else small.
Choose your method. It should be noted that the first (vehc) is the only one that will give you a hog that has no phmo for the turret. Meaning if you roll it over, it will roll as if there was nothing in the back. The other methods, it'll still stand up in the back like there's a turret.
