Halo 2 Freezes at Log In

I have a hard modded xbox, and whenever I start up halo, it freezes when I press start to view the list of profiles to log into. This problem disappears when I remove the ethernet cable. Does anybody know of a fix for this? It does it whether I am running off the hard drive or off the disk, and has done it since before i had any mods installed for halo. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!

Excuse me? What do you mean? If you just don't like halo modding, I was refering to modified maps and adding options like multiple tanks and stuff like that. I don't don't cheat or anything like that.

try deleting halo off your hdd then reinstallin it....i'd think that would be the easiest thing to do

Hmm Did you inject music to your Mainmenu? Mine would tend to freeze when I did. Try putting a fresh mainmenu on and see if that works. To tell you the truth I think since you said when you unplug your cable it is fine. Pherhaps you accidentally modded the login option when you sign in somehow. Thats all I can really think of. Its really odd. Well you said you have a hardmodded xbox. I remember when I have my stock hardrive for my xbox selcted I go on live and turn the chip off. well one time I didn't know I had the chip on and whenever I tryed to login to xbox live and it would say loging you in or whatever and then it would just close the logging in window. then I discovered my modchip was on and preventing it. I instantly shut my xbox off.

It is possible that your chip may think you are loggig into xbox live and does its live prevention thing to stop you so it freezes your box like that.

Thats is I can truley think of now.

It does this with a completely fresh mainmenu. I deleted all halo related stuff, even mimesis and extra maps and everything and recopied halo onto the hdd and with a brand new halo it still freezes. I thought about that xbl thing...but this xbox has never been used to connect to xbox live. Also, in the stock xbox dashboard, i turned off autoconnect and all that sort of stuff, even though there aren't any accounts on there anyway....I don't imagine that affects halo in anyway, but i'm not sure. I don't think there's any option for turning off an auto connect or anything like that in halo, but i'm not quite sure....

it's fine if i plug it back in after I log in...but I prefer not to have to reach behind everything and unplug it everytime i log in

Ok well do that and then once you are logged in plug it in and go to xbox live option.

I just checked and there aren't any options in the halo menu having to do with auto sign in or something, and i can't try to sign into xbox live cause there aren't any accounts registered. It just gives me the option of st arting a new account or not logging in

I now I never wanted you to atcually log in, i was just checking to see if it has to do with the xbox live funtion.

I really don't Know how to help you... just be glad you can play halo 2 at all....
