modeling question

is there a way to make the model of whatever it is you are editing exactly the same as the other models (like the other models in a certain model tag, like one that comes up with a notice, "more than 1 model contained in this structure" or whatever) or do you just have to do guesswork? and matching up like a weapons model to the fp model too. ok well thanks, ive just been confused on this lately.
