Newbie modder needs help!

Post by pinklink »

OK, I'm just getting started with modding, and I've figured out some of the basic stuff, namely projectile swaps, shader swaps, etc. I'm using Insolence, and I've got a few questions:

1. How can I change the damage of a projectile?

2. How come my swapped shaders don't remain on the weapons when you get too close to them?

3. What are some good reskinning programs? I know Photoshop is one, but I don't have it. I tried doing some reskins in MS Paint, but when I try to load the bitmaps I extract from Insolence, it's in .dds format, and Paint won't load it.

4. How do I change the speed of a projectile? Say I want my sniper to shoot a sticky grenade, but at sniper velocity. Or, say I want it to shoot Needles, but at sniper velocity. How do I do this?

1. The jpt tag.
2. Use the LOD remover found somewhere on this site
3. PaintShopPro is a cheaper alternative to Photo Shop
4. proj tag. Change initial and final projectile speed.

Hope this helps.

Bump I suppose.

I also found the LOD Remover, the Machinima Companion? However, I'm not entirely sure how to use it. I just check the Model LOD or the Bitmap LOD, or the Camera Man? And then I just choose my map, and it should work, right? I don't have to redo anything in Insolence or anything?

That doesn't do anything when I put it back on the Xbox, though. It deleted any of the swapped shaders, no matter what the distance is. In Insolence they still register as being there, but in the game, you only see the FP shader swaps.
