Can someone tell me how to change it from just black to chrome because this is just annoying!!!

It's your video card. Older/lower end video cards display the MC's visor as a black surface. Get a new video card if you want to see the gold MC Visor and bump maps and all that kind of stuff. I suggest http://www.newegg.com if you're gonna buy a video card (off the internet).
