CLuis wrote:So you are calling me selfish for taking MY FREE TIME to code a program that complex, while you sit there with your hands out and mouth open waiting for it to be handed nicely to you without you contributing anything at all?
I'm not only speaking to zimbomonkey when I ask that, theres tons of other people in this community who want us devs to wipe their *** everyday. You know who you are, stop being lazy, pick up a book on programming, and learn it yourself.
Personally, I think cluis is an @$$ for not wanting to release a program that he has that would change the world of modding as we know it just because he's selfish and wants to have near-exclusive access to the best modding technologies available.
Nope. Theres reasons why Xapien was intended to be private. 1) The "wipe my ***" noobs. 2) Xapien uses pieces of info from Prometheus, so releasing Xapien would be like releasing portions of Prometheus. No can do.
Whoa, sorry about that. I had just been told that you wanted near-exclusive access to it. I didn't know about the prometheus thing. But how could we program it ourselves when we can't get the pieces of Prometheus to work with? It isn't laziness (sp?), it's a lack of resources that keeps us from creating it ourselves.
Edit: By the way, I wasn't trying to start a flame war, I didn't even know Cluis was around anymore, he hasn't posted in so long. There's no need to
ban me, I just had a misconception and acted on it. I have nothing against any of you personally, and I actually really enjoy your mods. I've made a few mods for myself, but nothing really groundbreaking. I've only been at this for two months now and in that time I've had to reformat my hard drive three times (I later discovered that it was faulty, as was my motherboard. I've just gotten new ones though, so I should do fine now). And now for some stats:
Posts I have made in this topic: 2
Posts flaming me for posts I have made in this forum: 3

I have a few problems with that statement. First, You would be hard pressed to find a post on this board when when I have asked for
ANYTHING AT ALL! Second, to prgram a program such as this, you need something called
Software. The lowest price for C++ programming software that I've seen costs an average of $550 dollars!
Now, unfortunately, I don't have a job, because no one around here will hire a fifteen year old. I'm lucky if I'm able to get $100 in a year!
Seems to me it's a little more complicated than "Sitting down and reading a book."

that would be a yes........why would we start a team only to just have one big release fest?
ps: to the mods (and admins....) could you just delete the offending posts and ban the appropriate user(s)? because it's not really fair to the topic starters when one person gets mad and starts a flame war with another, but I do know that sometimes extreme measures have taken so whatever happens.
Well, if he were to ban the people responsible, besides me you would also lose 3 great modders who had to respond after the argument had ended. we would lose,

ok now that CLuis has defended his integrity there arent any other reasons to fill this topic up with anything else related to Xapien. he is right, you are wrong, end of discussion....[/quote]
These are totally inappropriate. I said one thing about your friend, he said one thing to me, and I apologized. There was no need to take it further, yet four people felt like posting anyway, just to back him up. Xbox7887's comment was especially unnecessary, because I hadn't argued!
Lastly, I would just like to say that L33T meteors is by far the coolest map I have ever played and that whoever came up with a way to manipulate weather deserves a medal, because it opens a new door in Halo 2 modding. Good job, and I can't wait to see more of what this team can do.
