i'm trying to make a map and tool has an error help plz

ok when i open tool with cmd (dos) do this

tool bitmaps levels\kill gulch\bitmaps and i hit enter then it says

couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map

ummm can anoone help me cause i really want to make maps

That error doesn't matter. It doesn't effect anything at all, it's always there.

Also, try Tool++ by Kornman. It's downloadable over at HaloMaps.org.
An awesome GUI for Tool.

That error doesnt matter, everyone gets it, make sure where you put the tif file is the same place as you type tool bitmaps.... and so on..If that doesnt work, Try like sunny said that use Tool++
Your image cannot exceed 400x200 or 50kb

i try to do it but it says it and it does nothing nothing! nothin at all just sits there.

sounds like it cant find your .tif file. make sure you type in the right directory!, and make sure there are .tif files with the power of two dimensions.

It takes some time to get into, because the tools bungie used weren't 100% Bperfect. They were not really meant to be released to the public, but hey, people are making awesome GUI's and stuff.

Well, heres a test bitmap thing..

Create a white square with the size of 32x32 (everything has to be a dimension of 2)

Now, save it in your data folder as test.tif (just the data folder itself, no sub-folders)

Now, open tool, and type in:

tool bitmap test

It should compile.
