i am a complete noob to all this 3d modding. i have halo and i want to mod it. i dont know what i want to do for i dont know anything on how hard it is to mod halo. i have done some simple modding on a game called morrowind just like some houses and stuff. where should i start? where do i get a free modding program? is haloPC and HaloCE free? i will keep looking around maybe i will find somthing. thanx for any and all help i appreciate it.

Omg halo pc is halo dude ofcourse its not........We call it halopc and haloce so wewont get it mixed up but halo ce is free.

Yea but iyou can just get a free cd key off a site like www.gameworld.com or something.

oh, yah just after i posted this i started to think about that. oh well. i did get halo CE and played it. then i downloaded some new maps(levels). i put them in my haloCE maps folder but they are not .map i tried anyway but when i started up haloCE and tried to start a game they were not there. so i guess this is just an ubdated to my first Question.

well. you can download WinRAR (great program that makes/opens .zips and .rars) download the trial. when the trial runs out, however, it still lets you use it.

That's what i use. I would assume the maps you downlaoded are in .zip or .rar format due to the fact that maps are typically over 10mb.

If you need a link just ask, i don't have on one me right now. If you go to the Files forum (http://www.files.halomods.com) it would probably be in utilities.
