Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Oh hi, so I heard you like updates? OK...

First off I stopped working on this for a few weeks, mostly cos I was working on other stuff but also since putting in the proper dynamic lights the fps isn't as good as I hoped it'd be. That kinda annoyed me, but now I've just said fuck it and I'll carry on making it as good as it can be. It runs at about 75% of the speed of Damnation, so if you already have good fps on other maps you'll be fine, but if you struggle to run something like Zanzibar then you'll wanna tone down the settings.

Second, I spent quite a while thinking about what I wanted to do with the blue base and I've finally decided on the layout. The roof and rafters are complete and all of the textures are made. Now I just need to insert the extra furniture in the room and make the cubemap. So expect a bunch of pics over the next few days when I can start to show the whole room, but until then here's one to tide you over. It's one of the new stained glass windows:

New door! Well OK, it's not entirely new, some of you may recognise it from the Escape machinima. But it does the job well, so there's no point in creating another door when I already have one made (even though I did redo the bump map).

Beautiful. It looks more like it belongs in something running the U3 engine, not Blam Halo version.

Make it slightly less shiny, and it will be incredible. :)

OK, that's the blue room finished. I was gonna stick in some extra furniture, but after some thought I decided they'd just get in the way. In this room the cubemap affects the urns, window, wooden ceiling, metal parts of the skirting and *ta-da* the floor. Yup, I manged to get a good looking reflection effect while avoiding the dreaded 'plastic' feel. You can't really see it unless you're moving though.

How do you get those awesome reflections on the wood?

Other than that:

Custom cubemap and careful tweaking of the specular settings in the shader.
