Lets just wait for tuesday when they release info on the map
Bungie Weekly Update: 3/14/08
i dont think it will be a remake, ide rather something new, if i wanted to play sidewinder ide play halo 1. I dont think its going to be sidewinder anyway because sidewinder just wasn't big enough for aerial vehicles.

And if you wanted to play Sidewinder on Live? Yeah.nanagn11 wrote:i dont think it will be a remake, ide rather something new, if i wanted to play sidewinder ide play halo 1. I dont think its going to be sidewinder anyway because sidewinder just wasn't big enough for aerial vehicles.

Sidewinder was a large map, more than sufficient for aerial vehicles. Furthermore, it would be a remake, not a port. Therefore, your point is invalid.

IF IT IS A REMAKE......
Just cuz they are making a new map snowy doesn't mean the old map had to be snowy as well. They totally could remake Coag and just make it snowy...
Generally when they remake a map they change the theme. Look at(Wizard -> Warlock, Hang Em High -> Tombstone, Longest -> Elongation, etc...)
The fact that it's snowy doesn't give us a clue to what remake it is. This could be a burial mounds remake (with snow added), except it's probably not large enough for ariel combat.
EDIT:Is that better?

I know its more about the level design over the actual visual part but snow maps...ugh. I find them to be crappy. Yet they are so common...I might be carrying my Halo 2 skinning bias over to halo 3 though
Anyway, I got linked to this: http://blog.ascendantjustice.com/2008/0 ... -aspiring/
Just more speculation to what people already think.

They seem to believe (well, nobody can be certain obviously) Moonlight Sanata may be Lockout, but why would Bungie re-make Lockout when there's already a Lockout re-make in the game?
I definitely agree that the one thing Halo 3 lacks is one perfect map. There is no map in my opinion that sticks out. There isn't any Blood Gulch :/
EDIT: I mean, Standoff looks cool and it's OK for objective-based matches, but it absolutely fails in slayer. What I'm getting at here is that the DLC maps aren't well rounded. With the exception of Foundry (which is a great map and I won't beat on it here) neither of the two remaining DLC maps is any good for any real slayer match, or any real fun match. They look cool and sometimes play good, but they're simply not as well rounded as, say, Blood Gulch. There's a reason why it's practically the only map that was played in Halo 1...

Well, Kirk, that goes back to what I said before.
Guardian is as much Lockout as Valhalla is Coagulation (Or Blood Gulch).
Also, Bungie has stated several times that Guardian was NOT supposed to be a remake of Lockout. It's just another map. So, maybe it will be a remake of Lockout, who knows?
However, I wish that they had just continued the tradition and instead of Valhalla, they had remade Blood Gulch. Also, Last Resort is complete fail to me. I hate the map with a passion. I think they should have done away with both Guardian and Last Resort and Valhalla and just remade Lockout, Midship, and Blood Gulch.

Hah, Bungie can say it as many times as they want, but Guardian IS a re-make of Lockout in my book. There are too many similarities. There are way more differences between Guardian and Lockout than Valhalla and Blood Gulch .DrXThirst wrote:Well, Kirk, that goes back to what I said before.

What I want is more maps that can be played in Rumble Pit/Lone Wolves, as that's what I play primarily.

And after all of times said statements, they stressed it is supposed to play the same, generally. Guardian is supposed to have map-specific gameplay elements that derive from the Lockoutesque features and geometry.DrXThirst wrote:Also, Bungie has stated several times that Guardian was NOT supposed to be a remake of Lockout

Bungie said in a weekly update a while ago (December 14th update) the next map pack will include remakes of fan favorites. That's with an s. 1 map has already been revealed, we know it's not a remake so the remaining 2 are remakes. Sidewinder and Lockout as blog.ascendantjustice.com suggests. Read this, which is full of quotes from Bungie, and it's obviously Sidewinder and Lockout. The Lockout one seems more obvious than Sidewinder actually, http://blog.ascendantjustice.com/2008/0 ... -aspiring/nanagn11 wrote:i dont think it will be a remake, ide rather something new, if i wanted to play sidewinder ide play halo 1. So it's not if it's a remake. It definitely is, and so is the next map to be revealed after that. http://nikon.bungie.org/bwu/index.html?item=157
Bungie Weekly Update wrote:We're playing the next batch of DLC. This first trio has been very well received. Eventually your Halo experience will be so swollen and engorged that you'll have a hard time even remembering what the original map selection was. In the future, we'll be bringing you more fully custom built maps and they may include one or more of the following:
* Symmetrical arena maps for competitive play.
* Returning classics demanded by the fans.
* Crazy new stuff you never expected.
* Unusual maps with lots of potential for interesting game types.
* Graphically spectacular settings.
* More Forge objects to use on new maps.
* Surprises.

Spoilers: They can't have several arena maps, several classics, and several unusual maps all at the same time. Your logic is broken and they never confirmed anything.MasterChief2829 wrote:Bungie Weekly Update wrote:We're playing the next batch of DLC. This first trio has been very well received. Still, reading http://blog.ascendantjustice.com/2008/0 ... -aspiring/ I have no doubt that it's Sidewinder and Lockout.
