Map questions: Lights/ladders

Post by pimpmeister »

I'm planning to make a new map called Halonorge

I have this planned in my head, but the techinical aspects are stopping me.
1. How do you make latters?
2. Flagholder, you do this in Sapien?
3. Lightning, can you just make light sources? Should I do this in 3DS max or is it possible in Sapien?

The level is not going to be open, but I'm not sure how to get rid of the sky. Should I just flip normals at the editing stage and turn it the other way when I'm finished?

So if I have an object, say a box, and call it "smokey", then all I need to make it a ladder (suck in english) is to call it "smokey^"?

right, but another thing about ladders. it's only 1 sided (you're not makin a 3d ladder here...) so you also put a % at the end so that the material you assign it is two sided. this will make it so that both sides of the ladder are textured. and the texture fits itself, so you dont need to worry about aligning them together.... so if you name your ladder material "smokey", to make it a good ladder you'd rename it to "smokey%^" (once again, without the quotes)

BTW, by flagholder, do you mean the flag base? (that little metal thing under the flag?)

ya sorry i forgot about the %....and for the flag placement, the holder is scenery, you just put the flag spawn point on top of it
