Hud On a Weapon

I need help with the loc.map how do I recomile a new one? I want to add my own Hud Messages, I have edited the .unicode_string file for weapons and items but, I have no clue on how to update it! anyone have answers?
btw this is for my version of the "Halo 2 Needler" and I want it to say U picked up the "Halo 2 Needler" kinda lame but I just want the idea on how to edit the UI that's all

was that really worth a post? coulda just watched the forum but NOOO...anywayZ...anyways I found one way of doing it just open it in a txt pad and look for where it says picked up and then replace them SAME EXACT letters add ! if U have space to fill...this is my generic way of doing it

Edit: Btw I'd still like to know how to do it the right way if anyone knows

I did hex it,it's working but it would be nice to kno how to do it right...
