What we need is a better map editor for retail version, CE is all well and good but until some decent patches are done, the servers aren't ALL going to go CE, besides ... its easier to mod retail rather than CE ... for newbies I mean, so which do you think they are going to use/mod?Deadly_Shadow wrote:idiot....
I've been looking at some of monos source code ... I wanted to create a new version of the tag editor, and combine dependency swapping, like HHT offers, HMT can be dodgy with dependency swapping... swapping metadata ID's can only get you so far without exceptions, dependency swapping with HHT makes it seem more reliable.
Anyways a new version of the tag editor would include all the previous elements, be more streamlined for basic use (for newbies) so for example you highlight a tag and instead of having to change the three drops downs to say obje devi mach.....you'd change it to machine....
Plus, I don't know the viability, but automated metadata importing would own ...
(Hyperthetically)
Click on Import, select a .map file, select a tag from the resource viewer, click import, and in the background the program does:
A: Extracts current map file
B: Opens selected map file
C: Extracts import selection recursively
D: Moves files from a temp folder to initially extracted map temp folder...
E: Rebuilds map file
F: Deletes temporary folders
G: Opens new map
That would be kinda cool, cos then importing a wraith would be effortless, minus the PMI bit of course...but hyperthetically the process I think is possible...
All these ideas and I haven't a clue how to program them *sigh*, besides, probably wouldn't be worth it, what with HEK and Halo 2....
