Mod Idea- possibly

Post by viperblade »

OK guys and gals, first of all, I'm a newb/n00b (?) so go ahead and pop my nonflamed cherry and flame me if you wish, second, I was drawing up an idea for a level on Halo cause I can't figure out maya, or 3dmax ( too lazy) and I had an idea for a motorcycle type vehicle. It would probably have the style of the Tomahawk from dodge, so anyways here it is: would it work if you were to take the models of the ghost and the warthog and, 1) take the underside of the warthog ,2) then take all but the antigrav areas of the ghost, 3) then take the warthog part, shrink the model's width so it was the right size for the ghost part, 4) at this point I figured that the whole thing would be better described as a tomahawk type vehicle, mainly because there are already 4 tires, and also because I thought that you would probably have to rework all of the models and how they reacted to the programming, I guess that would be called script? back to the plan, I thought that the physics could be edited so that the ghost was just heavier and all but touching the ground, but that would just be skinning at that point, I'm talking about a whole new vehicle of sorts, so the part I guess I can't figure out is how to put the pieces together and also, would the player be riding just the warthog, og the ghost, would that be considered riding both, and how would the physics be handled, I was thinking HMT3. But what part would you edit? thanx for any help and if it can be made, make it, and if you could put my name in it that would be cool too. thanx again, p.s. If anyone wants to see my ideas for the level I'm drawing out, possibly so they can start modelling it, I'll be more than happy to email them to someone, just give me a couple more days to finish the drawings, their pretty detailed, and they don't look like crap either, so it'll help whoever does it. thanks

well you certanly but a lot of effort into thinking this idea through, the problem is I doubt anyone here is good enough with any modeling program to do this, I like your idea and i suggest that you learn modeling, Noone is going to do it for you... good luck

it would be a lot easier to just give the ghost the warthog wheels and make a 4-wheeler

OK, I'll take a crack at it, but what programs do you guys recommend? I know that in the previous topics, people have said that maya is better, etc.... but which would be better to learn on? thanks for the feedback

Im pretty good at modelling. i've made 3 new weapons and 4 vehicles but I can put them in the game which are fully modelled and textured

But the bike wouldnt be very good cos it will be easy to get shot but if you like the idea you should go with it

thanks everybody for the info, to superfly, I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but what if it had, say, a trigger that let it turn on active camo at the expense of the flashlight battery, just an idea, but I've got to get the program to model it first, then model it before I can start worrying about that.
