Best Xbox Dash?
I started using my old modded Xbox 1 again recently (mostly for emulators and just general hilariousness). I currently have an old version of Unleash X as my dash, but I was wondering if anything new and exciting has come along in that respect, or what dashes you guys are using... are EvoX or Avalaunch any good?

Re: Best Xbox Dash?
Isn't that just if you want to stream media and such to your Xbox? How does it work as a launcher/file explorer/FTP server/etc?
Re: Best Xbox Dash?
No, it's a dashboard. Just like the Xbox 360 dashboard. It has settings in the "Settings" blade that show your IP, etc.

Re: Best Xbox Dash?
I am aware it is a dashboard, but it is a very media-centered one (obviously). Since that is not my primary concern, I am just wondering how it holds up as "a launcher/file explorer/FTP server/etc"?
I would test it out myself right now, but I don't have my xbox here. Thanks.

I forgot. You have the normal amount of RAM.Eaton wrote:XBMC? Ew. I use UnleashX. It is a great dashboard.
Yeah, it'd be slow for you guys.

Re: Best Xbox Dash?
It isn't slow for me. But I like having something extremely basic as a dashboard, like EvoX, because all I really need is a launcher to other applications that allows me simple filesystem access via FTP, I'm used to it, something simple like XDK Dashboard/Launchers where you just launch executables/applications and can transfer files.DrXThirst wrote:I forgot. Yeah, it'd be slow for you guys.
Unleash X is also cool but I know people that couldn't get some stuff like the XDI/XDK setups working when the debug bios was to redirect to that, so they'd need to make it launch EvoX. Though it's your choice.
Just go with Unleash X or EvoX. If you like simplicity, and don't care for design much, EvoX, if you like a dash with quite a bit of features, but not too advanced, just like a filebrowser, etc. Go with Unleash X. If you're going all out media dashboard, go XBMC.
I would have XBMC as an application though, because it is neat.

Re: Best Xbox Dash?
I'd stick with Thirst on this one. Not only is XBMC an extremely rich media tool, it works just as well as any other dashboard...cept much prettier. It can launch every executable that evox or unleash can. It's got it's own section for just that. Like DeToX said though, if you want it was simplistic as ever, go with evox. It's dash can be edited as easily as ftp'ing and editing a file via notepad. So again, simple = evox . Gorgeous and rich = XBMC.

Re: Best Xbox Dash?
Keep in mind that if you have the normal amount of RAM, then the dashboard is very slow. So, simplicity with speed, or prettiness that's slow.

Re: Best Xbox Dash?
Agreed. Though if you plan to get some XDK Bios shit running on your Xbox, you may have problems with Unleash or XBMC as I said.kibito87 wrote:I'd stick with Thirst on this one. And what Thirst said also, but it's not that slow, it never went that slow for me at all..

Re: Best Xbox Dash?
Ok cool. Thanks for the feedback. What advantages are there to running an XDK bios? Real-time-halo and developing your own .xbe's? Just curious.
Re: Best Xbox Dash?
@Detox: UnleashX can run debug bios perfectly. Well, for me that is.
Real Time Halo, live screenshots, video capture, ability to boot into 3 different states, and the ability to develop xbe files. (If you know C++)mxrider108 wrote:Ok cool. Thanks for the feedback. There's the speed you'll receive. That's a normal Xbox that's been modded via Action Replay.

Re: Best Xbox Dash?
Can you still play on Live with the debug BIOS, or is there some chance of being banned (assuming you cold-boot)?
Re: Best Xbox Dash?
You're never going to be banned because the Xbox is modded. You'll only be banned if you mod the DLC maps for Halo 2, then leave the modded maps in their corresponding folders when signing into Xbox Live.

As long as you cold boot.DrXThirst wrote:You're never going to be banned because the Xbox is modded. You'll only be banned if you mod the DLC maps for Halo 2, then leave the modded maps in their corresponding folders when signing into Xbox Live.
I agree with Detox. I run unleashx, and when I load up my debug bios it boots into unleashx also, I might have had some difficulties getting it going but I don't really remember because I set up debug stuff so long ago.

Re: Best Xbox Dash?
Ok yeah, I knew about the Halo 2 DLC modding obviously, but I wasn't sure if Live ran a CMOS check of some sort.
Thanks for all the great feedback. I'm thinking about setting up the debug BIOS and updating to the newest Unleash X (because I don't have any real need for media streaming).

I figured, but not everybody might take it like that. I was just making sure things were clear.DrXThirst wrote:Yeah, that's what I meant.
