Mac Modding Apps: A compilation of HMT, HHK and several other programs for modding halo. Note: HMT:mac DOES NOT work anything like HMTv3.5, so if you're planning on following the PC tutorials for anything you're out of luck. It includes several tutorials in the download that should help you get the hang of things. Also, the more generally used HMT is HMTv0.7.5 not Halo Mapping Tools 0.5. If you view the folder HMTs in list mode, you should see both applications as HMT (0.7.5 is in the get info) is hidden at the bottom of the folder.

Mac Sparkedit: Make sure you know which chip set (PPC or Intel) you have because there's two different downloads. Neither of them allow the duplication of spawn points.

There is no sparkify for Mac for two reasons. The first is that the sparkify patches work just fine since there's no difference between Halo PC bloodgulch.map and Halo Mac bloodgulch.map and no difference between Halo Trial and Halo Demo. Therefor you can use the normal sparkify patches. What also is useful for using full tools on demo maps is Demo Hack which does the same thing as the sparkify patches (convert the header) but works for bloodgulch, b30 and ui.map and has the added feature of correctly converting magic, offsets and filesize values in the header so that you can actually rebuild maps (unlike with sparkify which blindly patches).

So, wait... does this mean I can make maps on my PC and transfer them to my mac? If so, will it work?

Sorry, this is like the 3rd day ive had my mac and its really confusing trying to play halo. Although, I can see colored armor, mirrors, bullets, holes the in wall ect. ect. so im starting over on Halo Mac. :)

EDIT #2: I have many many many maps made on halo pc. I have sparkify, sparkedit, HMT, hex workshop ect. So, if I get an answer about the 'Can I use PC maps for mac' question, let me know soon so I can get a server up. :)

yes all the PC maps will work on mac, but there is a thing you must do first, you must open the PC map in a Hexeditor (Not in a halo modding app an external one) and copy the hex then open the mac copy of the map and paste it into it. then save the mac version then it will work.

Wow, why would you even bother with that process with a hexeditor since it does nothing different from just using the raw files.

70% of mods work without issue.
Another 20% work if you open them up in HHK and save.

well i have been beta testing a mod by Pepsi and it would not work if i opened it in HHK and saved it. So i did the Hex Edit thing and it worked fine. the Hex Edit way 99% of the time works so i rather give this person the help they might need instead of saying that it will work anyway, and then having him come back and say it does not and whining about it.

I say that because i hate hearing "oh this mac sucks. I cannot play this map!" I am fed up with the annoying brats at my school, and here on these forums complain about whatever, I am giving you advise.

Please don't bump year old topics, and no. Those patches do not work under mac because HMT and Sparkedit is different.
