You would get stretching on your surface because, looking top down on your map, a face that makes up the side of a mountain may only look an inch long, but when you look at the actual face, it may be 5 inches long on a downward slope....I'm not sure if I explained that well...If you still have questions, pm me and I'll try to explain it a little better.
