Listened to NIN's Ghosts I and II today. II Ghosts 12 sounds okay on YouTube videos, but on a good 5.1 system...holy shit. MUCH better.

Geo wrote:Same with GTAF, Juno Reactor and Daft Punk aren't techno. Kinda made me laugh actually.
Does it really matter Geo? There's no point in posting that other than to make people think you're special or some shit, I really don't know why you felt the need to post it. Electronic, house, trance, dance, techno, blah blah blah I don't care. I know the differences between them and such, but it's just easier to call bands like Daft Punk and Juno Reactor "techno". I don't think SHOUT would have been any more or less inclined to check them out had I said a different sub-genre. There's no need to have an elitist attitude over something so trivial as sub-genre classifications. If I had called Daft Punk a pop band, sure you could laugh at my expense, but fuck there's so little difference (to the "untrained" ear) between them that it just doesn't matter. It's easier to just call them techno. And now we shall hold a symposium on the differences between emo, alternative, grunge, rock, grunge rock, grunge alternative, emo grunge, emo rock, alternative emo grunge rock and new age music. It will last three hours and your knowledge of the material will be tested at the end.

Whoa now, I don't think Geo quite intended that to sound the way you took it. Well, maybe, but I believe it was more so in jest. But yeah, I knew what style Daft Punk is. I've been trying to get their albums for ages, but they're difficult to get it seems. Eric Prydz and Kavinsky have kept me busy in the meantime. Also: I intend to listen to all the postings I haven't already heard tomorrow, and I'll post my thoughts on the ones I liked. I really do appreciate all the good replies; you guys are great.

Cox: I like 90% of metal and sub-genres, so keep em coming. I'll get on AIM sometime and I can share some of my stuff.

JK / Shadowkhas: My hardcore NIN guys. You both actually introduced me to NIN, and since then I've managed to get all of their stuff. Took me a few months to get though.

Gametag: You actually already introduced me to all the APC a while back. :P I'll check out the others as well.

To be continued.

Here's the final list of the bands I got off you guys. I think I may have left out a few, and I was unable to get any Daft Punk. I actually already had over half the bands you guys already mentioned, but I did manage to clash on to some very cool stuff. Thanks guys. :)

\Cox:
  • Citizen Cope
Beck - Really dug some of the beats
    Dropkick Murphys
    Finger Eleven
Flobots - Had some rap-style stuff I can actually enjoy. That is extremely rare.
    Lexicon
    SixxAM
Weezer - For kicks. Not my favorite.
\Gametag:
  • Chevelle
\Shadowkhas:
  • Kaizers Orchestra
\Geo
  • Klaxons
    Pendulum
\guysullavin
  • Already had all of them. :p
\JK-47:
  • Shiny Toy Guns - Pretty epic. I like their sound.
    The Bravery
Strata - Epic as well. I play them the most actually.
    Teddybears
\Mr. Brightside:
  • Breathe Carolina
\Cobain:
  • Anti Flag
Fighter X - Cool, but I think I can hear some Enter Shikari samples.
Yes, I did listen to every suggestion. :)
