I would think the covenant would keep everything nice and shiny.

i guess that's where our opinions conflict, i felt that the covenant ships seemed a bit more...how should i put this...reptilian, mysterious, organic,

well i guess in one word mysterious, reptilian and organic kinda add to a mysterious effect. listening to the marine's conversations on that level they keep talking about "damn, i never thought i'd get this close to one of these things" and "How are we gonna get inside that monster" so of course the marines had a sense of awe/confusion. i wanted to confirm these "thoughts" i guess you could call them even though they are just AI.

in other words, the marines Don't know what to expect when they board the ship. and when they actually DO board the ship, the find exactly what they expected, if you catch my meaning

I get what your saying but all of the covenant ships are made of metal, plus they are tying to imitate/copy the forerunners.
Plus they would make grunts scrub their everything with tooth brushes.

But you see it differently and it's your mod, so continue as you see fit.

Now that I think about it I don't think the cliff is too dark, just that the contrast is too high. It's a little better than before, though.

this good?

and Xbox, the ships ARE made of metal, but then again the covenant are from a different world, highly unlikely they will have the same metals as on earth

whatever.
The ground texture needs to be worked on so that the grass fades to rock on the top of the cliffs.

Still ugly. I dont think it's anything to do with brightness/contrast, it's just an ugly texture IMO.

Sorry if it sounds harsh Abe, just trying to help

it doesn't sound harsh, it sounds honest.

ok here's my last attempt at this level's cliff walls, depending on the feedback i'll either keep this, switch back to the previous one, or try to get someone else to skin the cliff wall for me

The cliffs looks very bad too me. To much contrast and it looks liek a rock texture. Wait, is it a rock texture?

I'd say it looks quite nice actually. And about purple skies, I was thinking about doing a few, but I thought you might be. It's all good then. :)

I like the last cliff texture. The contrast is better than the other ones, and the bands of darkness make it look more like an actual plateau.

This is not the grand canyon. this is an artificial island on an artificial ring world.

Yeah but the Forerunners wanted it to look real. It had real weather, for instance. Besides, the mod is to make it seem more realistic, not more like the designers wanted it to be.
