It looks good to me. Personally I think MC would look better with black gloves like the 3rd person model instead of bare hands.

thats part of the reason this isn't out yet, you can count on gloves when the third person has gloves when this comes out

if you want to help with FP arms (you're already helping a lot, vette, you don't need to, believe me) then check my camo skins thread, chances are i'm going to use all the marine camo skins there in version 2

marine's have that green HUD thing on one eye, and spartans have that helmet that it can fit on, so i would say it is perfectly fine

I like the grungy/rusty look of the pillar of autumn and Truth of reconciliation looks really neat so far. There's some textures though that look too tileable (mainly the walls of the first pic and possibly the bridge on the fourth). I suggest you lighten the dark spots and darken some of the light spots to make it tile better. Other than that great job so far!

those tileable textures by default are supposed to look tiley, the default skin (which this is just an altered version of) has bolts on the corners and "cracks" (you know like on sidewalks) that separate it from the other one\

and guys who were hoping for a Silent cartographer reskin update tday, i'm working on new lightmaps for truth and reconciliation to make it (as some people suggested) more purple (and bluer since my favorite color is blue) and i was working on perfecting the bumpmaps for the exterior and making a ground texture to match it (also as suggested) the old bumpmap had a couple bugs.

Silent Cartographer reskin finished(?)

new sand texture specific to this level (has sea shells in it), it's really just a placeholder, Ombre may end up making me a better one, or i may end up keeping this. Also, new water color

Image

More rustyness

the cliffs are the reason for the (?) at the beginning of the post, i'm kinda experimenting with it. wasn't sure if people would like this cliff texture so i decided to double check before saying that i'm done reskinning the map

This is looking good. Will you be skinning the skies?

Yes, it looks more realistic than Philly's super icy cold looking water.
I would say that the cliffs shouldn't be that dark though.

Do what I'm doing and use the ones from a50. They really suit the level if you're going for a happy happy fun fun theme.

xbox, do you have to mention Philly in every single post of yours? I dislike the cliff wall, It's ugly.

The sand is decent, except I really dont see how the lines going thisway V

--------

make any sense. The beach never looks like that when I go, it's much more random. Just saying.

You're middle picture, with the rust, I honestly thought that was a CE map at first glance. That is win.

The cliff is too dark, and the metal is too rusty, but passable as is.

Looking good! You should definitely do the skies.

for the cliffs, the feel i was going for was (for anyone who has played Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne, i was aiming for something that looked similar to this level cliff-wise) for those that haven't played that game, that level takes place on an island that just got raised from the bottom of the ocean.

not to say i wanted silent cartographer to have been raised from the bottom of the ocean, but i felt that giving it that look would make it seem like one hella ancient island. and regarding comments on the cliffs what i've gathered is mixed opinions, some say it's fine, just too dark, others say it's bad. so I'll ask one more question about the cliffs:

should i re-do them? or just make them brighter?

about the sand, it doesn't look like the beaches you go to because this beach hasn't been touched by life in (i don't know how long, but i know it must have been a freaking long time, check the halo manual or something it should say the amount of time between when the forerunners activated the rings and when the covenant found them)

about skinning the skies. i've kind of made a start towards that but at the time i posted it i forgot and didn't post pics, all i've done so far is added more stars, feedback please, what else should i do to them? i don't really want to make it purple or anything fr the sake of realism, which is what this mod is all about

here's a pic of the new sky so far, not much i know, it's just a start. not having a release date for this gives me plenty of time to perfect the mod

Image

edit: after really looking at this sky, what do you guys think of a lighter blue sky?
