So don't do it...
You said why waste space, but we gave you a reason. Nobody's trying to convince you to do anything, we're just showing that you didn't know what you were talking about.
No, as always, you cannot use an external storage device like that.

anyway, what do you guys think they're gonna talk about in the ps3 conference??
Proally promise there fans the same shiat they've been promising em for years that they've failed to deliver on such as Killzone* 2 and In-Game Dash...

And as Tural just mentioned in the post above yours, you don't need to get a bigger HD... Okay fine... HDD, it's merely a convenience that is available to you, should you chose to do it. I'll stick with my 20GB HDD. I'll clear enough space for my most played game of the time and replace it when I have a new favorite. unless something new comes out that really gives me a reason to upgrade, I'll stick with what I have.
So will it be mandatory to run it of the hard drive, or can I just run it off my disk as usual?
And that dashboard... They better not keep it for long. I want to play my 360, not the fucking Nintendo Wii.
...Why would it be required to install a game to the hard drive when the hard drive can't even hold more than one or two games?.. That wouldn't really make sense. Of course it isn't mandatory.
Has there been any footage of the guide? Major Nelson mentioned that the blades system would be integrated into the guide on his site (for those who didn't know already).
Major Nelson @ majornelson.com wrote:Dashboard built into the new Xbox Guide. For everyone who loves the blades interface, it’s not going away; they are now built directly in to the new Xbox guide. Every feature and option is available right from the guide. You can even access your full games library at all times. No matter where you are (in dash or in game), immediately call up your games played list and directly launch a game.
Looking at that, I'm going to find Major Nelson and bash him over the head with my 360.
I seriously cannot believe Microsoft thought the shit would look good. If anything, it should be activated from the blades interface, as an optional system "upgrade." Then I can delete it from my hard drive when the update comes.

This thread is why 14-year-olds are looked down on on the internet.
What?
I've already pointed out that they have purposefully not said it will be optional, which they absolutely would have done if it is. Major didn't say it, they didn't say it at E3, there is no evidence to support it being optional. The avatar is the new gamerpicture, and that is the new dashboard, and you can't change it.
