The cover system and stuff would be a massive thing to implement for little gain...But it would be pretty kool

As for the realism I don't care myself. I like it for balance purposes.

company of Heroes has a working cover system.

C&C Generals had them too, complete with ghillie suit. You could argue that garrisoning structures is cover, but you still have to order units to do that.

Kirk, you oughta go check out World in Conflict...it's pretty realistic in terms of damage, and an all around fun game (no base building crap, really fast paced but still retains a tactical feel to it, plus the tactical nuke in that game looks amazing).

It's really awesome, but it suffers from its own design in some aspects. For instance, there's 4 roles to choose from. Obviously, 1 on 1s boil down to pick the rock to their scissors, rinse and repeat until the limit is reached. Team play is kind of a necessity, because it's about 100x more fun when you can have a full out aerial assault on one area with your buddy bombarding the place with artillery. Problem is, your buddy may not be as smart as the other guys, so you can be screwed because he called in the artillery support on some trees that he suspected had weapons of mass destruction.

It's a great game if you can get a good group of people to play it, and even having an AI team mate works out pretty well (as long as you're facing other AI ;p).

This is hopefully soon to be Happy news.
I found out last night that I am supposed to be getting a 5MB connection.
I was talking to the Bell Sympatico people with their chat online and they were going to perform a line test in which they needed me to disconnect my router which in turn disconnected my internet so I lost connection. I told them I can't reach speeds of over 790KB/s. I'm hoping when I speak with them again today I can get everything all sorted out and the speed all fixed up. I can't live much longer with this slow internet, especially with multiple users on my internet (2 computers) one of which my sister uses and persists to load multiple youtube videos which completely kills the connection, no fun when I'm trying to play Halo or any other game. So if they get it all fixed up I should have my 5 Meg connection and be happy and have a happiness thread post.

Heh...a friend of mine was over at my house playing Halo 2 once...got matched up in a 4v4 with the PMS clan. His reaction (to how badly he got his ass kicked) was priceless.

The Dawn of War games have a cover system of sorts; if you go near destroyed building, your pointer changes and your units gain a defensive bonus.

Consider yourself lucky; monitors tend to build up a huge latent charge even when they're unplugged (like enough of a shock to kill you).

Dude is it seriously going to be that bad, right now im on amoxicillin and some ibprofen (yay for cheap meds), but its to fight the infection and pain till wednesday
