Project DH...

Post by DeadHamster »

Workin on a map, who knows! I might actually finish this one. ha. yeah. suure.

The maps running now with 13 duped weapon tags, and a few other little tricks gimmicks to make it all work.

Image

Pretty much done with that, need to edit a few light tags and the projectile/particle colors.

Image

Same as above. Not really sure what I want to do with it quite yet, As in how the weapon fires and such. Give me some ideas.

Image

Very rough concept model, it'll be fixed up and patched together with a new skin

Image
Need to get the bitmap injected right, it's not agreeing with me, because conure's app hates sniper bitmaps. Thats a 3P BR model btw, made by l33t, or whatever his name got changed to.

OR

Image

My BR model, with/without InvaderVeex's Animations.

I cant tell if I wanna inject the animations or not. They mess up while reloading and they break some sounds. The little handle-looking thing also goes back a wee bit much when you shoot it. Advice?

The battle rifle will be working almost perfectly thanks to a bit more research and logical thinking. (AKA bouncing ideas off of Philly).

Speaking of which, When/If this is released, I owe him a big thanks, considering I lovingly robbed many little tidbits of FTD here and there. Not like, literally robbing tags, but saying Oooo that's kinda cool, I'm gonna do that.

BTW Philly, I got bored and checked through the beta map in HMT, you NEVER have to worry about people stealing you're work. There are so many duplicated tags and re-refernced files, I can't believe the damn thing runs without some type of exception.

Other then the 3P model of the BR and Veex's animations, everything in this mod has been made by me thus far. I'm hoping to keep it that way

What's that supposed to mean? Are you sayin they're ugly?

Haha, I think I might need a bit of help too. If I do I'll make sure to take you up on the offer, but I think I've already asked you just about everything about them.

And I think im starting to get used to how eschaton is set up, although I still dont like it. It's nice though, im not gonna lie.

Now I'm stuck on the joy of trying to add a scope mask to an AR. I know it has something to do with duplicating the pistols WPHI, or the rockets or something like that. The part im figuring out now is how to re-assign the assault rifle's bullet-counter-HUD-thingy to the new WPHI. Which probably would be a lot easier if it wasn't 4 in the morning. haha.

Sequence index short integer for static and meter elements of the weapon HUD interface. (It's a bitmap reference) :P

I'm actually having a similar problem with the battle rifle's HUD. I can see that you and I are on the same modding wavelength. I didn't like Eschaton in the beginning, and I still find HMT more useful for some things, but it really does have some wicked modding power in it. :)

How many plasma rifles will there be in the mod?

Perhaps for the green rifle you could make it shoot a burst of shots, somewhat like a plasma-shotgun.

Personally, I would change something on the HUD display for each of the plasma rifles if you are going to have multiple PRs. make it a colour that is related to the colour of the PR maybe?

maybe change the colour of the meter on the HUD of each plasma rifle so they all match the corresponding colour of the weapon. now for my awesome text diagram.

Alongside with the release of this (believe it or not, it's actually still going pretty strong), I've gotten an idea for another little something I want to release.

In essence, it'll be forge for PC, with the concept being based off of Foundry from Halo 3. It is NOT going to be a replica of that particular map, that's just what the concept of the mod is being based off of.

Anybody interested in that idea, or is it not worth my time?

Bump.

Read above post.

Respond if you'd be interested in it. I dont want to spend a lot of time on it if there's no interest in it.

I don't see how you could make a spawn menu and tools for moving equipment/guns/etc. around.

Sounds like alot of scripting...
...or not. I really don't know Custom Edition all too well.

Edit:
Isn't all scenery in Halo 1 completely satic? If you were able to move it around in forge mode, actual people, weapons, and vehicles would not be able to.

Well, I wasnt planning on having an in-game forge editor, I'm not planning on making a program. Forge is kinda crappy for preciscion anyway.

Wait then how were you planning on doing it? If you dont wana spill it thats cool. I am just confused on how it wouldnt be in game or a program. :?

@kount:
Also no amount of scripting would be able to do this....

EDIT: OMG. I just checked out you're Memory Editor again, and found out it does edit the scnr tag. I didn't think it could. The only catch is that it wont be swapped until the object has to respawn, which makes sense. Do you think there's anyway that can be edited to take effect immediatly? Because it also prevents scenery from being swapped with other pieces I believe, unless theres a get-around.

On that particular topic however, as I previously stated I didnt really mean having PC actually like forge, with an in-game editor. What I meant by it was a map that was pretty much bare, while still looking good and having some things to it, just like Foundry, with a good deal of new custom scenery pieces that could be placed ala Sparkedit/Swordedit, assuming the map works on macs.

Nothing groundbreaking, I just thought it'd be a cool little thing to have people toy around with, it'd let people make more custom maps without resorting to log mods again, It would really bump up the creativity level in the PC section, which has been on a rather steep downward spiral with modding recently. It'd also be a lot less intimidating then CE is for a lot of newcomers.

On that note, newer people to the PC forums generally get the game and want content based on the newer games, for me it was H2, now it's more H3, so for people without 360's/Halo 3, being able to make their own maps in a way similar to forge, and much much more precise, would be very appealing IMO.

EDIT:

Here's the map as is, I drew up a very rough sketch of it. Not to scale:
Arrows signify a ramp, bottomn at the back of arrow, the head of the arrow being the top of the ramp. A top view and then an elevation on the side over there.

The modeling is about 35% done, then I have to add textures. Which means I have to skin, which I'm not exactly the best at. I have gotten better though.
