Needler attached super detonation

Post by CaptainPoopface »

How does the game know when to trigger the super detonation for the needler? It occurs when a certain number of shards attaches within a certain span of time. It seems to be about 8 needles, where the 8th needle attaches before the 1st needle detonates. I've also noticed that the needles "wait" to detonate if other needles attach during their detonation countdown, regardless of whether a super detonation ultimately occurs. For example, if you shoot two needles and then wait, they will blow up after a second. If you shoot two needles, pause briefly, and shoot two more, all four needles will detonate at once, even though the time since the first needles attached is longer than their standard detonation time.

I would like to adjust the number of shards or the span of time before super detonation.

From what I know about the map structure, there isn't a way for projectiles to be aware of other projectiles. So it seems like this would be handled at the xbe level, but I can't be sure.

Does anyone know?

interesting question, this never accured to me. It is possable that it is done on the projectile lvl. My guess would be that the info is based on the material reaction, this means that it might be checking how many similar projectiles are attached to the same material or object with that material and then reacts as said. So try poking around that reflexive.

Sorry if that didnt make sence, i will try to explain it better if i need to.
