L0d3x: His parents aren't really forcing their beliefs on him.. their focus is on the music and what it teaches specifically, not that they're secular.

Ideas:
1. Tell your parents you are the spawn of Satan, and that you are going to receive your Satanic powers.

2. Spray Holy water all over yourself and say "The bad people can't get me."

3. Just go, don't tell them.

4. Tell them you really want to go, and you aren't influenced by their music to go against Christ. If they say "No." Then tell them you really will go against Christ and start a Satanic gang that roams the streets and punches old people.

Honestly... Share some songs of the bands that are gong to be there with your parents.

These bands are on the lower part of the "Evil/satanic/BAD" Spectrem.

Seriously...... These bands are fucking NSYNC compared to most of the shit out there.

He's saying that the bands at the show are extremely tame compared to other bands in their respective genres.

Just tell 'em. If they give you a hard time, ask them where the bible bans entertainment.

Jesus Christ, this is dumb. I'm actually getting pretty pissed by reading this thread. Your parents are extremely irrational.

I'm going to ask them today, because my friend's parents need an answer by the end of the week and I'm leaving for 5 days tomorrow. So I'll let you all know how it goes later. Thanks for the help btw, I think I'm going to put together a list of songs by them for my parents to check out, most of them clean or almost clean 8) and I think that'll do the trick. I'll ask my dad as well because he's always been a fan of rock and had an appreciation of good rock music, so I think he'll lean easier towards letting me go.

Ravnz: His parents haven't said anything yet.. calling them irrational based on such little information in itself is irrational. Let's at least hear their response. Good luck, Muffin.

I don't want to start a huge debate or flame war but religion is a touchy subject and is the cause of a lot of irrational thinking. Look at the middle-east.

Damnit my advice might be a bit late, but...

Firstly, dont lie about anything that is going on with the concert. Your parents will eventually find out the truth, even if you dont get to go, your parents will be very greatful you didnt lie to them.

My parents are christians, I've grown up and realised faith isnt for me. I'm not a satan worshiper, its just some parts I find are extremely far fetched. Anyways...they let me go to Download Festival, its basically like the one your going to.

I persuaded them, I told them what it was, I didnt mention band names for 2 reasons, 1 they wouldnt have an idea of most people going and 2 I didnt really want to give them any more reason to look into it, not that I lied and said it was some thing different...

I made sure I told them I was going with really great friends, you have an advantage in the fact a parent is going, make sure they know she is very sensible and will look after you.

I even got my parents go pay for my thing, surprisingly

Deep down, your parents want you to be happy, going to this will make you very happy, make sure you tell them its a great offer and you really want to go (bit obvious, but still).

Best of luck.

The deed is done... he wanted moar info, he said he can't make a decision right away, so I can only hope he accepts. I made the email as nice as possible. Here it is, and I'm leaving for swim camp for 5 days now, so bye everyone.

That's their official site. I'd mainly go for Disturbed, Dragonforce and Underoath because Disturbed just released a new album with some crazy guitar playing and it'd be cool to hear them play it live. (one of the members is christian too FWI, and the others are Jewish I think so don't think they're like a band that worships the devil or anything, because that's what I thought when I first heard of them.) Dragonforce made Through the Fire and Flames (the hardest song on guitar hero and that would be AMAZING to hear live), and all of Underoath's members are christians and they have christian lyrics as well, they're a great band. As for Mastodon, Slipknot and all the other bands, I've never really heard their music but slipknot is an extremely talented group, although definitely secular and even kind of scary (with their masks and all) so I don't really care about them either.

So yeah. Frankie and Matt really want me to go so we can all see it together beacuase it'd be the coolest thing ever, but please hurry up, because Matt needs to know whether to get tickets or not by sometime tomorrow night. So I guess you can text me or call me while I'm at camp so I can let him know, thanks.

PS: he says the tickets are 50 bucks, by the way, but he says his parents are paying, their treat.

That would make sense. The letter has good points, but it appears as if there are a lot of run-ons.
