64 bit vista

Post by Evilsnowflakes »

Ok, so entity runs fine on my 64 bit vista but everytime I go to inject or extract anything or open a model or bsp viewer I get a "exception from hresult:0x800700C1 64 bit vista" I've googled it and haven't found anything, so does anyone have a solution at all, my old xp system never had the right specs or is there a way to duel boot xp and vista on my new laptop.

So what exactly does it do then, I looked at the video and read about it but I'm confused.

Edit: I don't think it will work anyway because I have a laptop.

Laptop or desktop it doesn't matter. I'm running it now on my HP laptop with Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

Yeah but can you give me a little info on how it works and what not, like does my laptop turn on and I can select which system to boot up or what, and I'm having trouble finding a good link for tinyxp.

Edit: I found a tutorial on duel booting and since I have a windows xp disc from dell along with the vista one gateway sent me, I think I'm going to try that instead.

Yes you can do that, but if you do this you can be on your Vista machine and XP machine at the same time. If you have something to IM on give to me and I well help you.

yes it does wor on XP 64-Bit

TUT for both OSs

1. Download Virtual PC 2007 and install.

2. Open it, and click new. And then next name your Virtual machine.

3. Select RAM and the amount of GBs you want it to use.

4. Insert the Bootable disc and select use bootable drive E.

5. Then it should take you through installation.

We'll I was decided to duel boot vista 32 bit instead because xp was failing on my computer so now when I boot up entity and I try to open the bsp viewer, or model viewer or export a model or something like that, I get an error that says. Unhandled exception has occured in your application.
Then it says just Error in the application:

Here is the details:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Edit: can someone with vista post what they did.

My Specs Gateway 6860
4 gigs of ram
8800 gts graphics card
Intel 2 duo 1.83 ghz
320 gig hardrive.

I think it may be my graphics card because its doing it to me in darkmatter. Darkmatters sbsp view says could not initialize direct3d tutorial now closing.

Final Edit: I fixed the problem, I just had to install the drivers from the gateway site onto my 32 bit copy of vista on my computer. So now I'm happy the the sbsp viewer is so smooth and it loads up fine and runs great.
