not the removal of the beating heart but cultures used to sacrifice people to please gods. some believed by removing the heart before cremations to allow them to move on and yet remain with them after they pass so...yeah you can say so.kornkidcrazy wrote:Even all the weird cult stuff from temple?KOH_Church wrote:I will say all the other jones movies are "plausible"
The power of God...As a weapon....Is more believable than aliens? JFC, are you retarded, or a religious fanatic?

It is thought that you can't even "see" God in death. You're closer to him, and you see where he's at, and even acknowledge that he's there, but you won't see a physical body. It's technically the same here actually. The closer you are to God, the more able you are to feel and acknowledge his existence. That is my belief, but it's all open to interpretation. Either way, this is not the thread to be discussing it. Most all of the Indiana Jones movies are "plausible" in a sense of the word, but only in the sense that there's no evidence to say they don't exist. Until proven, they're only myths. Alien argument can't be defended due to lack of supporting evidence, and the God argument can't be defended for the same reason. If not even less so being that it's a matter of faith, not fact.
The Temple of Doom revolves around more of a dark magic and witchcraft scene, so some of the acts are more or less difficult to defend. There are some pretty fucked up things in this world, and to say that some aren't attributed to an evil supernatural entity would be foolish. Not saying I believe in the shit, but being a Christian, it would be highly hypocritical to cut out a possibility simply because I cannot see it.
That ends that argument -- back on topic.

Oh, sorry, I don't mean to derail the thread.
Umm... right.
I had read about the crystal skulls years ago and pretty much everything in the movie has been discussed before.
There's one theory that humans were gaining knowledge and out heads grew bigger, so we had a high infant mortality rate. They say aliens saved us by moving some of that knowledge or whatever into our DNA, reducing the size of our heads, saving the species, and accounting for the sequences in our DNA that don't seem to mean anything.
^I don't believe this, I just know of the theory.

Bull shit. Stop trying to get your nudges in and take it to PM if you absolutely feel the need to argue about something so petty.WaeV wrote:Oh, sorry, I don't mean to derail the thread.
Actually, I rather thought the movie did a good job at appealing to teens and older folk. I recommend it.Philly wrote:I think I might want to see this film. Is it very childish? I hope not.
Not trolling. The power of God is just as believable as aliens, because like you yourself said, there's not enough evidence on either side to support the theory.SHOUTrvb wrote:Don't troll.G.I.R. wrote:The power of God...As a weapon....Is more believable than aliens? No, not really. That would only be true if you were so ignorant that every statement is to be taken a strictly literal and stand-alone with no implications or background at all.G.I.R. wrote:The power of God is just as believable as aliens, because like you yourself said, there's not enough evidence on either side to support the theory.
For the record, I cannot follow anything you are talking about, and your post is either so overly sarcastic that you pushed past sarcasm to reach a serious tone again (o_o), or you're serious, hence this reply.
I think that's actually the nature of being religious. :3SHOUTrvb wrote:but being a Christian, it would be highly hypocritical to cut out a possibility simply because I cannot see it.

I agree though. Subpar when compared to the originals, but still a good watch.

sorry SHOUT...I don't know how old you are, but being 26 it doesnt appeal to me as an Indiana Jones film. It just doesn't feel right. I had such higher expectations for this film and fell completely short. If you like X-Files then hell go see it, but if you are a true fan...boy cot it lolSHOUTrvb wrote:Bull ****. I thought the general plot was stupid, but you can't help but appreciate the wonderful performance by Ford, and even a decent one by Shia; who I normally dislike. The movie showed me that Harrison could still do it, and I really had that "He's still Indy!" feeling. Yes, I'm aware that I'm saying ignoring the key part of the entire movie makes it worth watching.. and I do stand by that. I recommend at least one watch. It won't look as good on the home screen, so I also recommend theater viewing.

i personally disliked the fact that the portrayed indy in the young sense. they should haves how Indiana as an older more vulnerable person but running on rafters and surviving a nuclear blast do not help.SHOUTrvb wrote:I thought the general plot was stupid, but you can't help but appreciate the wonderful performance by Ford, and even a decent one by Shia; who I normally dislike.
