Halo 2 Sniper [Model/Skin]

Post by CallMeSheF »

UPDATE:

I've fixed this up quite a bit since the last. Here's a lil comparison:

Original:
Image

Updated:
Image

Image

Comparison:
Image

Things that have been done:

-Updated Halo 2 Model
-"See-Thru" Scope
-Updated Halo 2 Skin
-Updated Halo 2 Reticles (HUD sights)
-Updated Zoom Levels (5X/10X)

This model was designed on Invader Veex's Halo 3 Animations, if you dont use them you won't get desirable results. The download for these can be found halfway down the page here.

You are free to use this model and skins in any way so long as I am given credit.

You may edit it, use it directly in a mod, or whatever else you wish. However if you do use it directly, or with only slight barely noticable changes, it's required to use the model and skin be used together, they cannot be seperated. If they are seperated and there are not obvious changes to either the model or skin, I do not give my permission to use it.

I do not give my permission for this to be included in any mod without crediting me, and I also do not give permission to use it if the above terms are not met, and doing so will invoke my wrath. Thats bad.

Everything in this mod was created by myself. However, I have to give thanks to the many people who posted in the WIP thread or this thread prior to this update with advice and support:

Thank you for any help you may have given.

That's... really quite good. Why did you only get an account yesterday? You could have shown us a WIP and we would've given crtisism and stuff. Nonetheless, I'd give it a 7/10 at the least.

just add a mask on the sniper hud and it looks almost the same. good job.
-1 for no HUD detail
-2 for not much work on making the sniper body look similar model or skin.
I give you a 7/10

Thanks for the advice guys. Unfortunatly it would take a bit of working around to get the HUD on the sniper to match perfect, and it's a pain to work with the HUD on the scope, because the scope was stretched, and so everything in the skin on it was stretched too. So a circle has to be drawn as an oval, etc. etc.

I wasnt going to update this any, but I changed my mind sometime today. I'll keep working on it and try to get it as close as I can.

It's really nice. Just needs some detail work, otherwise it's one of the best i've seen so far. 8/10

EDIT: BTW where's the DL?

EDIT 2: Oh, there it was....

it appears you have only edited the scope, and the suppressor thing at the end of the barrel lol perhaps finish modeling the body, etc?

you should pull up the whole cocking mechanism forward, like the silver knob that sicks out the side, that whole thing can be taken and dragged forward to be under the scope. also remove the green thing from the side of the scope.

when you do this, i would love to see sceenies with the h3 sniper animations =)

maybe ill try to model my own h2/h3 sniper sometime, but i prefer to challenge myself with modeling after real guns lol

oh and what program do you use? i find milkshape to be the best for me. i model as well, so if you need help, contact me via aim or something and ill be more than happy to help (that is, if you dont catch me on a grumpy day lol)

edit: lol nvm, it appears as though you have fixed it up in the modding discussion section, gj, i like it

Yeah, sorry for the sorta kinda almost a bump, but just thought I'd redirect anyone reading this to the discussion thread on it.

Here you go

It's been updated quite a bit since this, looks quite a bit better.

Oh and au5t3n5, I have quite a bit of modeling under my belt, especially regarding PC remodels. Thank you for the offer to help though, I appreciate it.

....

if i was really jealous, i wouldnt even post anything, make my own version of the sniper, then post pics of it on here and flame him for his model

sigh. and how am i being jealous? is offering help now considered jealousy? and what are you? a dam therapist? "omg this must be jealousy! look he wants to help!"

im not flaming you but seriously...you might want to think before you post, and probably at least backup your silly claims (and quoting my entire post does not count as sufficient evidence)

and what exactly was the purpose of your post? honestly, least i was critiquing his work. here you just hop in and start making false/random accusations. i mean, last time i checked, the thread was "Halo 2 Sniper [Model/Skin]" not "Hey! Lets be a therapist for a day!"

oh and thank you Andrew_b, least you can interpret what im saying correctly instead of misconstruing it into some jealousy claim

Let's play a game, shall we? It's a fun game, it's called let's not get my topic locked. I personally love this game, why doesn't everyone try it out and see how it goes. Sounds Good? Sounds Great.

Don't post flame bait if you truly concur with his statement.

- about the rifle, I think it looks great so far, keep it up. I think the round part at the front needs to be centered in though, and that small part that goes around the cylinder in the front needs to be flattened.

like this mediocre front>back diagram of the top of the scope:

)-----------{{{{{{{{{{{{|
)-----------{{{{{{{{{{{{|
)-----------{{{{{{{{{{{{|

Rather than,

this is really really good

one last thing i can suggest is making the suppressor like thing at the end of the barrel a tad bit larger/wider. look at the screenies of your model then the actual h2 one. you can see what i mean. besides that, i cant really add much more besides saying some skinning stuff, but that is out of my realm of knowledge lol.

Wow that looks quite a bit better. The model looks somewhat improved and the skin makes it look even better. The skin colour looks pretty damn close to the Halo 2 one as well. Keep working on it and I'm sure you'll make it looks almost exactly the same.

First thing I saw (kind of stands out a bit) is how thin it looks. It's a really pretty nice model, but I'd make it just a little bit wider.
