If you could resign CON files, then you put scenery from that map wherever you wanted.bcnipod wrote:I am asking this for a friend, is there a way to add or move any existing objects into the forge palette(objects that are not already on the palette)?
But to answer your question: no, unless you could modify the actual .map, which isn't possible without a dev-kit.
Please leave question answering to people who know what they are talking about. You did not address his question at all.nickcas wrote:If you could resign CON files, then you put scenery from that map wherever you wanted.

You keep saying never, no, will not, not possible... just an after thought but what exactly have you done to stop someone else, independent of the community of friends you seem to enjoy mentioning whenever referencing the new xdk, from obtaining an xex dev kit from say... a cousin of a friend who lives in Chicago who's father is working on the next halo project between Microsoft and their new third party halo game developer and reverse engineering the technology just as you have and developing a container resigner or just as you have and then posting it very publicly anywhere he can? Doesn't then saying never become a little naive. I for one am, and have always been, of the belief that anything done can be undone. It is by the same logic I do believe that the reality which you all seem to believe you have control over in fact could very drastically change... say... tomorrow could it not?

To answer your question more accurately than it's other answer, if you could call it that, yes. In theory you could modify what the forge pallet lists as placeable object but not in the way you think. The actually pallet is determined inside the map file and therefore is specific to it's map it is not one database that forge draws from with checks for what map can use what. Also the objects in each pallet are also specific to that map so you could not use objects from different maps on maps they are not supposed to be on. However, and this is how I determined the answer to your question to be yes, you could change the way forge places objects, and by that I mean you could say when you select then place a "Double Box" from the forge pallet instead cause a tree or form of scenery to spawn. That however would be far more complicated than simply modifying a forged map file and replacing [previously placed object "a"] with a scenery or other object, that is to say you could place a bunch of weapon holders, then open the forge file and change the weapon holder ID to that of a spartan, elite, or other scenery. This of course is all assuming you can resign CON files.bcnipod wrote:I am asking this for a friend, is there a way to add or move any existing objects into the forge palette(objects that are not already on the palette)?
Granted what you say is true like I said, it was just a thought.Tural wrote:Nobody has proven themselves capable. If you want to do it, go do it buddy, stop arguing over rhetoric, it's completely pointless. Who cares about how you phrase it?
Edit - Thank you I had opened two windows and hadn't though about the fact that it would result in a double post lol
