Mesh Question

Post by theblueblur »

Let's say I'm making a map. Does the whole map have to be one giant mesh? Or can non-terrain objects, such a bases or pillars, be a seperate mesh?

they can all be seperate meshes/objects but only objects linked to the reference frame (like the tut shows u to for the orginal map box) will be exported. So you can have a million diff objects if ya want and as long as they're linked to the ref frame object they'll export with the map :)

So what you should do is just weld the verticites to the map of the base, pillar, etc. so it will be exported.

no you link it to the reference frame.. this is completely different.. it doesn't have to be attached or part of the same object... read the tutorial the first 2 sections and you'll quickly see how to link to the ref frame

Thank you so much! I really thought I had to weld it to the level, when in actuality, all you have to do is link it! Awesome!

Im making my first map right now, and i have teh level linked to the frame, and all the objects linked under the level. Will they export, or do the objects have to be linked directly to the frame?

Mine right now:
frame
**-level
****-objects

or

frame
**-level
**-objects

its bound to work both ways.. as a linked object is a linked object whether its below another item or not. So i'd say the top way is more logical and organized, but the bottom one is how you are shown to do it in the HEK tutorial.
