Looking for rigged 3dsmax Halo 2 biped models
I dont any of the pc halo games but I do have them all for the xbox so I cant extract any models. I want some so I can do fan renders. The only one ive found is master chief. Is there any model packs with that have all the character models from halo 2. Im not just talking about marines and covenant. Id like to have models of sgt. Johnson, keeys, Hood, the prophets,and cortana if possible. Also I would like some textured vehicle models including ships and Halo. Also the earth model from halo 2. Ive found some but there not textured.If someone could post some links to any of these models or upload themselves that would be extremely helpful!

I dont have the pc version of halo 2 so I cant extract the models from the maps. Also I dont think its illeagle.If I own the games dont I also own the models? Im pretty sure its legal to make free fan renders from them. Ive seen lots of other people do it. Ive even seen some posted on the official bumgie forums and they were never told to stop it by bungie. One last thing. Just out of curiosity is there any .map importers for 3dsmax 9, and is the .map format the same .map format that half life uses?

No. You own the game. You do not own the copyrights to the content in the game.ProphetofTorment wrote:If I own the games dont I also own the models?
That is perfectly legal. Redistribution of copyrighted materials is not.ProphetofTorment wrote:Im pretty sure its legal to make free fan renders from them. Ive seen lots of other people do it. Ive even seen some posted on the official bumgie forums and they were never told to stop it by bungie.
No. A map has so much more than just models and textures in it.ProphetofTorment wrote:Just out of curiosity is there any .map importers for 3dsmax 9

how do you think modding works? you don't do it all on the xbox >_>ProphetofTorment wrote:I didnt think you could extract any files from xbox discs because i didnt know that the pc could read them.
already done. playing modded maps isn't public yet for halo 3 though.ProphetofTorment wrote:Can you do it for halo 3 to?
The PC can't read them. You mod your Xbox so you can transfer files from the discs while they are in the Xbox, through FTP. Yes, it can be done for Halo 3, but the process is different with a 360.ProphetofTorment wrote:I didnt think you could extract any files from xbox discs because i didnt know that the pc could read them. By the way. Why was this thread moved?
It was moved because you aren't talking about Halo 2 Vista, you don't even own Halo 2 Vista. This was better suited for the Halo 2 Xbox board, as you do own that game, and that is how you will be getting the models.
Wait...we are sure he has a modded xbox, right? 0.o
If you do have a modded xbox, here's a TUT.
1. Go read up at xbox-scene on connecting your xbox to your PC and establishing a FTP.
2. Make sure your Halo/2 game disc (whatever you want the models from) is in the tray and your loaded up in your modded dash (EvoX, UnleashX, Avalaunch, ETC. anything but Microsoft Dashboard).
3. Connect via FTP and go to your xbox.
4. You'll see your xbox has several drives. You want to go to drive D:. Now, if your on Halo 1, simply go into the maps folder and copy bitmaps.map (or may just be bitmap.map, haven't done this in so long I'm not sure) to your PC. If your in Halo 2, it's map-specific, so go into the maps folder and copy every level you want models from to your P.C., along with mainmenu.map, shared.map, and single_player_shared.map. In order to tell which map file is which level, look in the F.A.Q. sticky in the board this thread is under.
5. Now go to the main page of this site, go to Halo 2 XBOX *coughnecessaryemphasiscough*, then go to utilities and download the latest version of Entity.
6. Open up Entity and go to "edit>settings" at the top. Set your map paths to wherever you FTP'd them over.
7. -v
->a. For Halo 1, go to file>open map>bitmap(s).map
->b. For Halo 2, go to file>open map>[mapofyourchoicehere].map
8. In the tag tree window, find the [mode] tag and hit the [+] to the left of it.
9. Find the model of your choice and click it.
9.5. If you get an unhandled exception, get a different version of Entity and start at 6. Unless it doesn't have said option, in which case you'd go to 7.
10. Click the BIG BLUE (+) in the top right and click "Export model to wavefront OBJ" or sumthing like that.
11. Choose the destination, let it do its thing and your ready for 3dsmax.

No. You can mod a 360, but the process is completely different and a lot more complicated. Buy a plain Xbox and softmod it, then do the process. If you dont want to, then you cant mod. Besides, if you did mod the 360, and you had xbox live on, your screwed.ProphetofTorment wrote:I dont have a modded xbox.I have just a plan old 360. Is the process the same? Is there any special hardware id need beside just a standard ethernet cable? Also thanks for the interesting and very useful information everyone!

That has nothing to do with the process of getting the maps, which can be done without the 360 entirely.Thrasher Alpha wrote:Besides, if you did mod the 360, and you had xbox live on, your screwed.

I forgot to mention that I also have a xbox1 system that I dont use anymore because I use my 360 to play games now. I can mod it and not worry about not being able to play on xboxlive because thats what I have the 360 for. The only tool that I dont have and need now is a screw driver!
Also ive found some tutorials on how to rig halo 2 models in 3dsmax so thats not a problem either now.

You dont need a screwdriver. Go and look on how to softmod your xbox. All you need is Action Replay, Mech Assault or SplinterCell or 007 Agent Under Fire, a crossover cable, and a computer.ProphetofTorment wrote:I forgot to mention that I also have a xbox1 system that I dont use anymore because I use my 360 to play games now. Actually it doesnt use a screwdriver. You can softmod it without opening the xbox at all.ProphetofTorment wrote:I forgot to mention that I also have a xbox1 system that I dont use anymore because I use my 360 to play games now.
