modding with wirless laptop card?
i want to mod halo 2 again but i dont have a modem anymore, i have 2 ethernet ports on the back of my laptop and a internet card in one of my USB ports, is there any way i can transfer the maps to my xbox this way?

Just use a crossover cable. That's what I do and it works out very nicely, and it's pretty simple. You just hook it into your computer's ethernet port, and you're xbox's ethernet port, and you're good to go.
If not that, I don't exactly understand what you're asking. Are you wanting to transfer files to your xbox wirelessly or, what?

i think its pretty much the same, and yea im talking about FTPingultama121 wrote:If you're talking about FTPing, I FTP on my computer with a wireless card without any problems. Hopefully it doesn't matter that I use a PCI card apposed to a USB card.
if it is possible that would make my dayThey are pretty cheap cables, actually.
It is possible in some cases... I'll see if I can find a tutorial for you.

What's keeping you from trying my technique if you use a wireless card? Try plugging your Xbox into your router and try FTPing from there with your Laptop. Assuming that you have an Ethernet cable and a router, it should be possible to at least try.

Thanks Scotty Gee for the avatar. Thanks Anthony for the Sig.
Here's one
I'll see if I can find any others.

Agreed. If you don't have the equipment neccessary to set up a wireless connection between your xbox and pc, I'd say go for the router suggestion. Here's a quick tut I found that should work (for router connection):ultama121 wrote:What's keeping you from trying my technique if you use a wireless card? Xbox Network Connection using Router
This is another common network configuration. This is the network configuration that I personally use because I have a wireless network in my house. I use a Netgear MR314 router.
Step #1: Plug your network cable(RJ-45 cable) that comes from your cable or DSL modem into the WAN port of your router. Again, if you don?t have a cable or DSL modem, it?s okay. Just leave the WAN (or uplink) port on your router empty.
Step #2: Take an RJ-45 cable and run it from one of the ports of the router, directly to the Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your computer.
Step #3: Take another RJ-45 cable and run it from a different port of your router directly to your xbox.
**NOTE** In steps #2 and #3, you should not use a port that is directly beside the "uplink" port on your router, if your uplink port is being used to connect to another routing device.** If your router has a built in firewall, you will need to forward ports 8602 both incoming and outgoing to the internal ip address of your pc. Consult your device manaul for port forwarding.
That's it! Your Xbox is now on the same network as your PC. Just power up your Xbox with your EvolutionX disc, and choose "configure IP". This will give you the IP address than you need to put into your FTP program in order to connect to your Xbox.

yea thats it,ultama121 wrote:Wait, are you even connecting to a router? It sounds like you're using a service that connects to a service outside of your house. If that's the case, I'd say go with the crossover cable. They're only a few bucks...
i guess ill just get thecross over cable when i can, thnx for the help you two

You can make a crossover cable yourself, the one i use is home made, simply cut a ethernet cable in half, find a nice wiring diagram for a crossover cable. its literally a ethernet cord with like 2 wires swapped hence the name crossover. alternatively if u have a couple dollars u can get a Ethernet to Crossover adapter, its a small jack that plugs on the end of an ethernet cord and turns it into a crossover. then again another couple dollars and u can afford a crossover.
BIG money saving tip; DONT BUY FROM A CHAIN STORE LIKE RADIOSHACK! It will cost you a LOT less if u just go to some small local computer shop and ask for one.

Don't be.
