Rebuilding...

Post by Senor_Grunt »

Ok, so I followed a tut on weather. Did everything, I'm stuck on rebuilding. When I rebuild, would I have to redo everything that I've done too the map previously? Also, what should I rebuild with, H2C or Entity?

If you are rebuilding then i'm guessing you should have already used H2C. If you wouldn't mind showing the tutorial you used, that would offer a lot in regards to what you've done and how you've done it already.

it was probably yours kibito :P

but if you decompiled the MP map you wanted to add weather to first, then you could have problems. decompile the map with the weather first. then rebuild with H2Core

Alright then, to answer your question. You will want to rebuild using H2C and only H2C. Don't bother using Entity for any part of the tutorial unless it calls for it. Let me know if you need any more help. Always glad to help!

More than likely...Only because I know Entity and H2C don't work well at all together. What might make it easier is if you write down the coordinates of what you've placed atleast scenery, weapons, machines etc wise and you can edit those coordinates in Guerilla. You will have to re-edit the meta you've modified unfortunately. I remember I tried modding everything on my map with entity then decompiling/rebuilding with weather and it kept freezing. You could always use DeToX's weather tool. That doesn't require H2C. Just entity. That might be the way to go if you don't want to redo your map.

Erm, you could possibly use Entity 1.3 (because it works well enough with H2 Core) to copy over object placement with the chunk cloner.

Or copy over placement with H2Core and H2G only.

I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure CLONING chunks is what will corrupt your map when using entity in conjunction with H2C/Guerilla. There shouldn't be a problem copying chunks from one map to another. Just cloning them.

Ok, so I got it working, but one question, what does the selection do that says: "Keep existing spawns"? And the ones that say, Transfer over spawns or whatever?

Well, let's say that you have modded the weather of Coagulation and you want to rebuild it. That option keeps all of the existing things in the map the same while it imports the weather. The other boxes are mainly for BSP Conversions. Let's say you want to convert Coagulation into a Cairo Station BSP and you only want the weapons placed on the map imported. Those options import the things on the map. Let me know if I was unclear on anything.
